3A-5A State Playoffs Preview

Applause, please. Double-elimination baseball is here.  

Eight teams – six of which are 16-5 in Class 5A -- in each of the upper classifications will have two weekends to win titles in the array of Championship Series that are chock full of contenders, yet generally devoid of heavy favorites.  

To this point, the pitching has outweighed the hitting, but we’ll be able to see how its depth will be tested once teams get into their third and fourth throwers.  

Below are capsule looks at the eight-team fields in 5A, 4A and 3A that will open play Friday (weather permitting, of course) over two sites for each class:
