As we wrap up 2016, Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running for 2017 with two major events.  The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 29th. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2019 and 2020 players who have committed to this event.  Continuing  our look is 2019, RHP, Graham Gilchrist of Fairview High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Gilchrist:  I'd describe myself as an extremely driven baseball player. I may not be the best at the start of the season, but if I'm given something to work on you can count on me making every effort to work on it. I think that I am diligent and work my hardest to accomplish my goals.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Gilchrist:  My dream school to play baseball at would be Stanford. I work very hard in the classroom to hold a 4.6 and I would love to carry that into a very high academic school that has a great baseball program like Stanford.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Gilchrist:  My best assets on the field right now would be my pitching. I enjoy working on the mound and seeing my work pay off. Off the field would have to be my academics. As I mentioned before I have a 4.6 and am taking advanced classes. I enjoy school and this will help to get more time on the field as well.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Gilchrist:  The best baseball advice I have received up to this point in my career would be that hard work pays off. I have worked through a lot of adversity in my career and I have found that hard work is the best medicine.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Gilchrist:  My off season preparation for the upcoming year goes something like this. During the fall I played with my club team, playing in tournaments across the state. In the winter I play basketball for Fairview as well as two nights a week doing an arm velocity camp to work on pitching. Any off time I have from that I spend in the weight room, getting stronger.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Gilchrist:  I am not usually a superstitious guy. The only thing that gets to me is I have trust issues with other people's bats. I don't like to use anything other than my own wood.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season: Hit 83 MPH pitching, and hit two home runs in games.

Two Years:   I would like to be preparing to go to college whether it be for baseball or academics, throwing around 87, and keeping my grades up.

Four Years:  I would like to be: Having a great time in college (playing baseball as well), and throwing around 89 to 90.
