Garbowski Looks Forward To Future At Quinnipiac

NEW FAIRFIELD, Ct. - Kyle Garbowski has had a lot of help in getting to where he is in the game of baseball today.

For starters, his father and brother have been indispensable.

“My brother helped out the process in showing me the way and explaining everything to me,” Garbowski said of his older sibling, Matthew, now a member of the UConn baseball team. “The same with my dad when it came to helping me get to showcases and all of that.”

In addition to his father, Joe, the head baseball coach at New Fairfield High School, Prep Baseball Report has also proven beneficial according to the 17-year-old.

“PBR helped a lot with getting my stats and my name out there on a social media platform,” pointed out the 13th-rated 2023 shortstop in New England.

It led to a connection with Quinnipiac, a university located an hour from home in New Fairfield.

“It started in the summer when I went to a showcase in Massachusetts when one of the coaches first saw me there,” Garbowski reflected. “I was invited to a camp and went there and the head coach saw me. They came and saw me one more time in the fall and we started keeping in touch. Then they invited me on campus for a visit and that’s when they offered. I accepted a couple of weeks later.”

Central Connecticut State was the other college under consideration by the 86th-ranked New England junior.

“I just felt Quinnipiac is the right school for me,” Garbowski explained. “All the coaches seemed like good guys and the campus is beautiful.”

One quality really stood out to the coaches with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference program when it comes to the 6-3 180-pounder.

“They liked my versatility and how I can play multiple positions,” noted Garbowski, who is being recruited as a middle infielder but with the possibility of also getting looked at in the outfield.

The 27th-rated 2023 from Connecticut likes the idea of using his multiskilled tools at the next level.

“I can bring them a lot of versatility to go along with a little bit of offense,” Garbowski noted. “I’m hard working, will give 100 percent every play and I leave it all out on the field.”

Garbowski pointed to PJ Jamieson, Sean Fesh, Frank Fedeli and Kevin Gilroy among those that have been important in development as a player.

“I’m stronger and faster now and that’s made things easier on the field,” Garbowski said. “Working out with my brother and my dad throwing BP and also as a coach has also been big.”

A 3.3 student, Garbowski is currently undecided on a college major but is certain about one thing.

“It’s a pretty good feeling,” Garbowski said of being committed. “This opens up another opportunity the next couple of years to continue to play baseball.”

The anticipation of what lies ahead at Quinnipiac also brings exhilaration about the future..

“I’m really looking forward to the competitiveness of it all,” Garbowski concluded. “It’s exciting to think about getting to play against a bunch of different teams at a bunch of different places.”
