Jake Neuman LHP / 1B / Southington, CT / 2020

SOUTHINGTON, Ct. - A year ago Jake Neuman competed in the Future Games as part of Team Connecticut.

It was after that the Southington left-handed pitcher began to get interest from Division I colleges. Visits were taken to Rhode Island and Hartford while there was communication with places like Bryant, Manhattan and Fordham.

But the 65th-ranked 2020 player in New England found the perfect fit right near home with Central Connecticut State.

“They started talking with me after the Future Games,” explained Neuman, who was eventually offered by the Northeast Conference program and ultimately committed to play for the Blue Devils this summer. “I went on a visit and really liked it. It felt right at home for me to go there.”

The Division I school is close to home - literally - for Neuman, just 20 minutes away.

“That was one of the big things I was looking for,” Neuman explained. “It’s awesome that I can come home for the holidays and that my parents can come to my games. They were very supportive of the decision. They knew I made the right decision.”

The 5-10 185-pounder pointed to one trait that stood out in the eyes of Central Connecticut State.

“They like how I compete,” Neuman said of what attracted CCS to him. “They see I have a lot of potential on the mound.”

Improvement helped out the process.
