Perfect Fit Right At Home For Adorno

“When it was first beginning I was worried I wasn’t getting the looks I expected,” explained Adorno. “So I started exposing myself more and PBR helped a lot. Once I started getting looks, it was a good feeling. But it made me push even harder to show that I not only can play at that level, but that I could be successful at that level.”

The New Britain 2020 did not have to look far from home to find interest.

“I started talking to Central Connecticut State the summer before my junior year playing with the Ct Blue Jays,” said the 105th-ranked senior in New England, who also credited playing in the Connecticut-Massachusetts Junior All-Star Game as helpful in his exposure. “They saw me again this summer with the Blue Jays and at the PBR Top Prospect Games. They gave me a call after TPG for a visit. I went on a visit and really liked the campus. It feels like home. I like the coaches and they like me.

“They like my skill set, my footwork and my glove,” explained the 21st-rated 2020 shortstop in New England, who was recognized at two PBR events for Best Infield Glove and at another as a Sleeper of the Workouts. “They also saw the improvement I had made with my speed.

“After that I talked to my parents and it became my number one school at the time. But then I started to get more offers.”

While others were under consideration, Southern Connecticut and Central Connecticut State became the final two schools of choice before a decision was finally made.

“I sat down and went over what was the best fit for me and Central Connecticut was the best choice,” pointed out Adorno. “It’s close to home and I’m familiar with the campus. They see that I can compete and play anywhere in the infield. They have a very good program and it’s going to be great to represent my home team. It’s the best choice financially, too.”

It added up to playing for the Northeast Conference school right in New Britain.
