Robinson Sees College 'Decision Coming In The Spring'

EAST HARTFORD, Ct. - A college decision is not far off for Kacin Robinson, who credits the Future Games with making the biggest impact on his recruiting process.

“The Future Games really kicked off my recruitment,” the second-rated 2025 outfielder in Connecticut related. “When Aug. 1 came around I had a good amount of schools that called, most locally along with some ACC schools.”

Round two of the prestigious Prep Baseball summer event in Georgia was the chance of a lifetime according to Robinson, who has talked with “around 15” schools since the first day of August.

“I went to the Future Games last year and there was some elite competition,” Robinson reflected. “I was more prepared this year. Since then I’ve gone to a couple of camps and received a good number of offers, but haven’t found what’s right for me. Most want to see me play again. I think spring will be when most of it will happen. I think I’ll have a decision by summer.”

Trevor Brown, Prep Baseball Connecticut Director of Scouting, has a high opinion of the third-ranked uncommitted junior in New England.

“Kacin is super athletic on both sides of the field,” Brown explained. “He’s a plus runner with an electric arm from the outfield and he has line drive pop to both gaps. Continued game experience is a must. He has tons of projection with great bloodlines from his father.”

His dad, Hassan, was drafted by the Astros and his mother, Julie, played softball at Rhode Island, while two siblings are athletes at Springfield, a brother plays basketball and a sister is involved in gymnastics.

“Being in a family with a lot of athletes, I want to keep it going,” Robinson said. “Once I reached the age of 13 or 14 I realized college baseball is what I wanted to do. Since then I’ve been taking it seriously. Me and my family have the same goals and I’ve been working hard. I want to make that hard work pay off and make my family proud.”

The recruiting process has been a great time according to the Avon Old Farms High School junior.

“I love talking to all the coaches,” Robinson noted. “I’m just waiting for the perfect fit for me academically and athletically. I want somewhere I can be happy, enjoy every day and have fun. I want to enjoy playing baseball, make some connections and have a good time. Coming from AOF, I have responsibilities and I want to get a real feel for college baseball.”

Robinson became acquainted with what it is like playing with future college baseball players at the Future Games.

“That was one of the greatest experiences, every part of it,” Robinson reflected. “Seeing coaches from all around the country, there’s a lot of pressure. It helped by going there two times. The first time I learned how it is and the second I was more relaxed, playing the game I love.”

Coaches saw a lot to like in the 11th-rated 2025 in Connecticut, projected by most as a center fielder at the next level.

“My athleticism,” Robinson said of what coaches have stated stands out about his game. “My ability to cause havoc on the bases, that I can hit and my arm. But the main thing is that I’m an athlete.”

Improvement is never ending according to the 6-1 170-pounder.

“I’ve been putting work in the weight room, gaining weight, and hitting every single day,” Robinson related. “The people around me want the same thing as me, to be a successful baseball player, and that’s helping my game.”

There is a lot that the 25th-ranked junior in New England believes he can provide at the next level.

“I’m a good person and a good teammate,” the 17-year-old explained. “I’ll bring a good amount of energy to the team, steal bases and get runs in … just be a good personality for the team.”

Admittedly, the recruiting process is a bit different than expected.

“I thought it would be quicker, not as long or as much into it,” Robinson said. “But it’s going smoothly. Coming from AOF I got a jump start on it. It’s a little more vigorous than I thought it would be, but it’s going pretty smoothly.”

A major in business is being considered by Robinson, a 3.7 student who is excited about playing his first baseball season at Avon Old Farms.

“We’re going to face some good competition,” Robinson said.

That is just part of what lies ahead for third-rated 2025 outfielder in New England.

“The recruiting process the next three months is going to be very important for me,” Robinson concluded. “I see a decision coming in the spring and then having a good time in the summer.”
