Season Outlook
The Auks will be heading into the year with 6 returning starters in the lineup. But Coach Clausius says the team is suffering from a few injuries, so new faces will need to step up early on in the season. The team will be led by catcher Joe Singley and Wofford (SC) recruit Andrew Orzel. Orzel is coming off a strong 2015 campaign finishing with 1st team All-Conference and Honorable mention All-State honors.

Pitching and defense will be the Auks strength this season. Orzel, Emmett Bice, and Nick Talley will be logging in most of the innings on the bump. The defense will be highlighted by Tighe Watson at third base and Colin Lynch at second to combine with Orzel in the infield. The pitchers won’t need to put up big strike out numbers with this solid defense behind them.

The big question for this Auks squad will be how they score runs. Coach Clausius is preparing to play lots of small ball and force the other teams to make plays. The Auks will be looking to use their speed at the top of the lineup to force situations and hope for timely hitting. Look for the Auks to make deeper run in the state tournament if they can put up some runs.
