14U Takes Two on Day One of the Junior Future Games

Day one of gameplay at the 2020 Junio Future Games kicked-off and the 14U Florida squad got off to a scorching hot start to begin pool play defeating Missouri 8-0 in 5 innings and Georgia 10-3.
Game 1
Ethan Burkhardt earned the start in game 1 and worked efficiently, attacking the zone and getting ahead in counts. He went 3.1 in 0 R 1 H 1 BB 1 K.
Ryan Spitzer came in relief and finished the game out for Team Florida, picking up where Burkhardt left off going: 1.2 in 0 R 1 H 1 BB 2 K to preserve the shut out. Offensively, Carlos Morales led the way with a 2-2 day including an RBI double that was tattooed down the LF line. Noah Hayse has also added a 2-run double off the LF wall and Mason Barela added a double of his own.
Game 2
Team Florida faced Georgia in the back end of a double header and came away with a 10-3 win scoring 6 in the top of the 7th to put the game away. Blaine Rowland started on the bump and pumped strikes throughout his outing as he lasted 3 innings, only giving up 1 hit and 1 walk. He also punched out 3 hitters and didn’t allow a runner to reach 3rd base. Wade Walton spelled Rowland with 2 innings of work and yielded 3 runs on 3 hits, striking out 2. KJ Scobey came in to finish as he threw 2 innings, allowing just 1 hit and adding a strikeout to his outing.
At the plate for Team Florida, Scobey opened up the scoring with an RBI single up the middle in the 4th and added another run scoring base hit in the 7th. Mason Barela and Nick Cucchi each contributed with RBI doubles of their own. Matthew Beckett also doubled and scored twice. In 2 games, Team Florida tallied 12 hits, 6 doubles and 18 runs
