This week’s Recruiting Trail article will feature a two-way player who is making strides on the mound, and a left handed pitcher who had a strong high school season and has continued to flourish this summer. Both of these players come from the Tampa area and are very solid college prospects.

Travis MacGregor 2016, RHP/IF East Lake HS

MacGregor is 6-foot-3 170 pounds with a tall, lanky, and projectable body. He has an easy motion and loose arm that alludes to an increase in velocity with strength and maturity. Right now his fastball sits in the 81-84 mph range and he has a solid 71 mph curveball. Travis has started to gain some attention at his games this summer with his team Score International.

Roland (AJ) Chacon 2016, LHP/1B Tampa Catholic

Chacon is a 5-foot-11 180 pound lefty with a strong and athletic frame. He has some effort in his delivery and arm action but he fills up the zone and seems to consistently pitch at a high level. I have seen him up to 85 mph and he has a sharp 74-75 mph slider. Chacon has been a part of multiple shutouts this summer with his Scorpions team and will be a very solid pitcher at the next level.
