2020 Florida ProCase: Corner Infield Analysis

The 2020 PBR Florida ProCase was a loaded event that featured the top 2021 and 2022 prospects from around the state of Florida. The event took place past Friday, May 29th at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona, FL. The players went through a pro-style workout which was followed up by BP on the field and a simulated game.

This week we will be breaking down all the players in attendance by position. Today, we continue with the corner infielders. We will breakdown each corner infielders in attendance with scouting reports and video.

Corner Infield Analysis

Cade Bush 1B / 3B / Palm Beach Gardens, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 1B/3B, Florida State
Body: 6-foot-3, 215-pounds. Has a tall, strong, athletic, projectible frame.
Defense: Fields off center of body, with a two handed gather, choppy footwork.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. Has a long, over the top arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Starts with a tall, open, athletic setup. Knee bend/heel up, toe down lift into a short stride. Hands load back and down.  Swings a level bat path, with natural lift. Squares up baseball, with extension through swing.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Line drive, dead pull approach with above average bat speed.
Run: 7.48 runner in the 60. Runs with heavy, short strides.
 

 

William Hagen 1B / RHP / Eau Gallie, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP
Body: 6-foot-1, 211-pounds. Has a wide, strong, athletic build.
Defense: Fields off center of body, two handed gather, presenting glove early.
Arm: RH. INF - 86 mph. Has a long, over the top arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Starts with an open, athletic setup. High leg kick, into short stride. Hands load back and down. Swings with an uphill bat path. Squares up baseball.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity from the tee. Gap to gap, power approach. Swings with intent, ball jumps off of barrel, with above average bat speed.
Run: 7.81 runner in the 60. Runs with short, heavy, choppy steps.
 

 

Aiden Mastantuno 1B / LHP / Fleming Island, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 1B/LHP, Florida State
Body: 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Has a tall, strong, athletic, high waisted frame.
Defense: Fields off center of body, with a two handed gather.
Arm: LH. INF - 77 mph. OF - 82 mph. Has a long, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: LHH. Starts with a wide, open athletic setup. High leg kick into a long stride. Hands load back and down with late barrel tilt.  Swings an uphill bat path with natural lift. Stays inside baseball getting extension through swing.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity from the tee. Gap to gap, power approach, ball jumps off of barrel with above average bat speed.
Run: 7.32 runner in the 60. Runs with short, choppy steps. 

Delivery: Smooth and in rhythm delivery. Lands in line with plate, foot closed.
Arm Action: LH. High 3/4 arm slot, quick arm.
FB: T83, 80-83 mph. Straight action, in the zone.
CB: 69-71 mph. 1/7 shape, true action, pounding the strike zone.
CH: 76-78 mph. Circle-change action in the zone.

 

Landon Moran LHP / 1B / Lake Brantley High School, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: LHP/1B, Florida
Body: 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. Has a high waisted, tall, long, lanky frame.
Defense: Fields off center of body, with a two handed gather, fluid footwork.
Arm: LH. INF - 79 mph. Long, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: LHH. Starts with a slightly open, athletic setup. High leg kick into a short stride. Swings a uphill bat path, with natural lift. Squares up baseball with extension through swing.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Power to slight pull side approach with average bat speed.
Run: 7.41 runner in the 60. Runs with long, high, choppy strides.
 

 

Brogan Napier 3B / 1B / Episcopal, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 3B/1B, UCF
Body: 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. Has an athletic, physical, big, strong armed frame.
Defense: Moves feet well, gets around the baseball at an angle, has some stiffness as he works through the ball, but showed solid actions in game.
Arm: RH. INF - 89 mph. Displayed a quick, strong, high 3/4 arm slot with average accuracy.
Hit: RHH. Starts with a balanced, physically athletic handed set up, transfers weight backwards, front toe lift/stride, wiggles bat slightly for timing/rhythm.  Uses a level uphill bat path, very aggressive swing, swing for power
Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Present power, looks to pull, shows slight stiffness.
Run: 6.98 runner in the 60. Runs with short strides, moves well for his physicality.

 

Zaylen Perry 3B / RHP / Auburndale , FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP, FIU
Body: 6-foot-5, 215-pounds. Has a tall, strong, long, athletic frame.
Defense: Fields the baseball off the center of the body, with a two hand gather.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Has a long, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Starts with a tall balanced setup, slow/fluid leg kick, slight barrel tilt load, with a short stride.  Swings with a long bat path and quick bat speed while having an up the middle approach.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity from the tee..
Run: 7.26 runner in the 60. Runs with quick, short, choppy steps.

 

Cole Russo 3B / 1B / Jesuit, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 3B/1B, UCF
Body: 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. Has a big, strong, athletic, durable frame.
Defense: Fields the baseball off the right/center of body at an angle, with a two handed gather, choppy footwork.
Arm: RH. INF - 86 mph. Uses a short, quick, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: LHH. Starts with a slightly tall athletic closed set up, leg kick into a long stride, with a soft barrel tilt load.  Swings with a level to uphill bat path trying to lift the baseball, plus bat speed, baseball lifts naturally off the bat, line drive/fly ball power approach to pull side.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity from the tee. Displayed a power pull approach producing natural lift with consistent pop.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60. Runs with long, heavy strides.

 

Hunter Russell 1B / RHP / Episcopal, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP, Miami
Body: 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Has a tall, thin, lanky, athletic, projectible frame.
Defense: Fields off center of body, two hand gather, presenting glove late.
Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Has a short, quick, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: LHH. Starts with a tall balanced setup. Knee bend/heel up, toe down lift into a short stride. Swings a short bat path, staying inside baseball, attacking ball.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. All around, quick bat speed approach.
Run: 7.13 runner in the 60. Runs with short, quick, choppy steps.

Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, lands in straight line, foot closed.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot, across body path.
FB: T83, 78-83 mph. Arm side run action, around the zone.
CB: 71-73 mph. 10/4 shape, up in the zone.

 

Sal Stewart 3B / SS / Westminster Christian, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/SS, Vanderbilt, High follow draft prospect in the 2022 class.
Body: 6-foot-3, 215-pounds. Has a tall, strong, athletic durable frame.
Defense: Fields the baseball off the right side of the body, with a two hand gather, with fluid footwork.
Arm: RH. INF - 90 mph. Throws a strong, heavy ball to 1B with a long, high 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Starts with a slightly open athletic setup, quick leg lift with a smooth hand load, and finishing with a short stride.  Swings with a long leveled bat path, shows fluid rhythm, above average bat speed, easy loose hands with extension through swing.
Power: 99 mph exit velocity from the tee. Squares up baseball making the ball jump off the barrel, displaying a confident, power approach.
Run: 7.53 runner in the 60. Physical runner with high choppy steps.

 

Tommy White 3B / 1B / IMG Academy, FL / 2021

Positional Profile: 3B/1B, NC State, One of the top right-handed hitters in the state. Has above average bat speed with a feel for the barrel and plus power potential.
Body: 6-foot-2, 220-pounds. Has a strong armed, stocky with physical projection frame.
Defense: Fields off center of body, two hand gather, plays through the baseball, average footwork.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Displayed a short, quick, 3/4 arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced athletic set up, slightly open, smooth backward weight shift during load, leg kick (front foot pointing down, toe touching), strong physical bat tilt load to get hands going, all around smooth setup. Displays a short quick powered bat path, stays inside baseball, swings with intent, fluid rhythm.
Power: 97 mph exit velocity from the tee. Shows power potential, is up the middle gap to gap hitter with above average bat speed.
Run: 7.05 runner in the 60. Runs with high, physical choppy steps.
