Future Games Recap: Team Florida Middle Infield Analysis

This week we will look back at our 2020 Future Games Team Florida roster. This group was full of talented 2022 and 2023 players. So far, we have already had 6 members of Team Florida commit to schools, with much more to come in the future.

Today we continue our Player Analysis with the Middle Infielders from Team Florida. We breakdown our seven Middle Infielders with complete scouting reports from the event. Take a look.

Middle Infield Analysis

Robert Demetree SS / 3B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2023

Positional Profile: SS/3B - The lean, young frame is very projectable. Moves well and should stick at short with both hit and power upside.
Body: 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Young face, long lean frame.
Defense: Quick footwork, keeps them moving at all times. Glove out, smooth gather and balanced from field to throw.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Loose, high 3/4 slot. Extension out front.
Hit: RHH. Tall in the box with a simple stride and load. Really clears the hips well and gets into a hitting slot early. Hands remain independent and adjusts well while staying on plane through the zone
Power: 95 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.62 runner in the 60.

Marek Houston SS / RHP / Venice, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS - Very projectable and has shown an above average glove at short. Overall the ceiling is very high.
Body: 6-foot-1, 170-pounds. High waisted, lanky, athletic, projectable.
Defense: Athletic movements, gets behind ball with hands out front. Smooth gather with balance to transfer quickly.
Arm: RH. INF - 86 mph. Short, fast action with extension out front and full follow through.
Hit: RHH. Tall stance, slightly bent knees. Hands loose and slightly low. Takes weight to the ball. Barrel efficient to the ball and strong through the zone creating above average bat speed.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60. Long stride athleticism.

Johnnie Lopez SS / 2B / Deltona, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS/2B - High ceiling left-handed hitter who could stick in the middle. Bat has some natural turn and above average bat speed.
Body: 6-foot, 170-pounds. Athletic, room to lean out.
Defense: Fields out front, off the left foot. Replaces feet and stays level, following the throw.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Smooth, loose arm. Clean, easy, action. 3/4 slot.
Hit: LHH. Stands tall with a simple load and medium stride. Gets his hands in a good position to fire. Loose easy hands that create a lot of bat speed and let him use them very well. Natural feel to hit and has a chance to get into even more power as he continues to utilize the lower half.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.09 runner in the 60.

Isaiah Myles SS / RHP / Bishop McLaughlin, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS/RHP - The twitchy athlete has above average, functional athleticism. It plays all over the field and is very interesting on the mound as it is a quick arm that could make another big jump.
Body: 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Lean and athletic.
Defense: Short choppy steps. Quick footwork. Creates good angles and moves his feet through the throw.
Arm: RH. INF - 89 mph. Short, quick action. Athletic and whippy.
Hit: RHH. Athletic stance, slightly open. Hands high with barrel parallel to ground. Shows rhythm and timing. Down to, up through barrel path.
Power: 87 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.14 runner in the 60. Twitchy, athletic mover.

Delivery: Tall and drive delivery, quick/high leg kicked balance point, athletics mechanics, twitchy actions.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot, loose/quick arm action, max effort.
FB: T87, 85-86 mph. Running sink action.
CB: 72-74 mph. 11/5 shape, sharp at times.
CH: 76-79 mph. Sinking/fading action, stays on top of baseball keeping FB arm speed, commands down. Best pitch.

Christopher Roberts SS / 2B / Steinbrenner, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS/2B - The strong middle infielder has a good combination of athleticism and strength that translates well all over the field, but especially defensively.
Body: 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Strength throughout a lean frame.
Defense: Wide and low base, eyes behind baseball. Feet moved through the ball with a two hand gather. Quick transfer across the diamond.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. High 3/4 slot. Good carry, quick action.
Hit: RHH. Wide stance, hands present fairly far back, small leg kick and simple to get on time. Hands are quick and create above average bat speed. Clears lower half well with aggression to create a free path directly to the ball. Athleticism and strength leads to a line drive, gap to gap swing.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity. Natural strength and quickness.
Run: 7.13 runner in the 60.

Matt Rose 2B / 3B / Calvary Christian, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: 2B/3B - Tools play both defensively and offensively and will make an impact at the next level.
Body: 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Stocky, strong body, especially in the lower half.
Defense: Smooth, controlled footwork. Gets behind the ball well. Fields out front with balance and tempo.
Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Over the top release. Whippy, strong arm
Hit: RHH. Tall, slight knee bend, simple medium leg kick load and simple load. Gets into the lower half well. Driving back knee down letting hands work freely. Natural feel for the barrel with more strength than expected. Gap approach with some pull power.
Power: 99 mph exit velocity.
Run: 6.94 runner in the 60. Compact strides, high knees. Drives off the ground with good form.

Ashton Wilson SS / 3B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS/3B - Very solid defender, offensively has present tools that play with a high ceiling. Has since committed to Charleston Southern.
Body: 6-foot, 175-pounds. Lanky, projectable.
Defense: Good posture. Hands out, eyes behind ball. Creates good angles and gets rid of it quickly.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Short, snappy release. Ball comes out of the hand well with carry.
Hit: RHH. Slightly wide setup with crouched stance and a short load.  Swing is simple and level. Creates separation and utilizes the lower half well.
Power: 95 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.21 runner in the 60.
