The Hotlist: Who Just Missed The National Top 50 Cut?

By Nathan Rode

The final National Top 50 went live yesterday and it’s only natural to ask, who missed the cut? Below are high school draft prospects, listed alphabetically, that you should still be familiar with, even though they ended up on the outside looking in.

Shane Benes, SS, Westminster Christian Academy, MO (Missouri)
Before the spring, Benes was considered an early-round prospect after turning heads at the World Wood Bat Championship with a triple-digit exit velocity and bloodlines. However, he tore his right anterior cruciate ligament playing basketball for Westminster and missed the entire baseball season. The son of former major leaguer Andy Benes, Shane is committed to Missouri and has a big league frame at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and consistently squares the ball up with authority. While his name will likely be called at some point after the 10th round, he is expected to head to Missouri and be a highly touted prospect for the 2017 draft.
