Scouting Report

03/25/17 - Looked very solid both at the plate and in the field. He had multiple quality at-bats, while he was a bit out in front he found the barrel in three of the four at-bats. Defensively he showed plenty of range and arm during the three plays he made at short with soft hands and strong accurate throws.

10/23/16- Florida recruit. One of the top players in the country continued to show his athleticism and high-end potential. Going 3-for-12 with two stolen bases he showed the ability to find the barrel, but also showed a passive approach at times. In the field all of the tools are there, but he struggled at times with some plays he has made in the past. All of the tools and potential are there for him to be a high pick and will be interested to see if he can bring the tools out on a consistent basis.

10/16/16- Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with a lean, athletic, projectable build. Possesses high baseball IQ and shows advanced, athletic actions all over the field. At the plate he stays balanced with a confident approach and good hand eye coordination. Has loose hands with a short, quick stroke that results in line drives all over the field and into the gaps. Aggressive base runner who not only gets good jumps and makes good turns, but also looks to take advantage of mistakes in the field. Had a single to left-center field during the game and immediately took second base when the play developed too slowly. In the field he shows range, awareness, a quick release, and the ability to charge the ball or make the tough play deep in the hole. Throws across the diamond are accurate with carry. With the combination of his toolset and the projection he still has to build upon, look for McConnell to continue to stay high on draft boards and be a possible day one pick in the draft.

7/8/16- Florida recruit. Currently ranked No.1 overall player in Florida in the 2017 class the 6-foot-3 175-pounder proved why by consistently finding the barrel driving the ball from gap to gap with the balanced lower half and level quick swing. McConnell is extremely athletic with a lot of room to fill out and will continue to shoot up draft boards if he continues progress his offensive approach to go along with the present skillset.

6/5/16- Florida recruit, McConnell is a 6-foot-2 170-pound shortstop who is very athletic with soft hands, ranges well to both the glove and hand sides and showed an above average arm. At the plate McConnell has a tall, relaxed and balanced set-up. McConnell has quick hands and advance barrel control with prenent gap-to-gap power with more to come as he continues to fill out.

3/11/16 - Florida recruit. 6-foot-2, 170 pound short stop with a tall lean loose live athletic projectable body. Loose quick actions with plus range and a solid average arm. Short quick release. Light on his feet with good first step quickness. Plus runner. 4.0 to 1B and a 4.34 on a turn. Aggressive risk taker on the bases. Hustles. Plays with passion. Grinder. Took a 1 hopper off of the chest. Short quick stroke with a good bat path. Barrel stays in zone. Stays inside ball well and uses the whole field. Gap to gap type approach. Just lacks physical strength right now. Went 3-4 with a SB.

2/10/15 - Lean loose projectable young kid. Loose easy actions with softness in hands. Below avg arm with a ¾ slot. Loose quick bat with a good path. Stays inside ball. Gap to gap type approach. Bat will improve with added strength. Good hand eye. Makes a lot of contact and uses the whole field. Will be a solid overall player before he graduates from HS.
