Why did you choose the University of Iowa?
DAVITT: I picked Iowa because it’s a place where I can develop into the best player and person I can be. The program and the school are both topnotch.

What other schools where you considering?
DAVITT: I was also looking at South Dakota State University, South Carolina-Upstate, and Kirkwood CC.

Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
DAVITT: I went to a couple of camps and I made sure to keep them updated on how my season was going. As my junior season got going, the coaches got a chance to see a couple games and after that we’ve gotten to know each other.

What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
DAVITT: I hope to compete for a spot in the rotation right away, I just want to get into a role that will help us win.

Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
DAVITT: My USSSA coach Ed Johnson helped show me the right way to play and to have fun while winning. Also Pete and Joe Blake both helped mold me into the player I am today.

What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for other players who have the desire to play college baseball.
DAVITT: Start early, and keep your options open. Every level has great coaches, go where you fit best, regardless of the level.
