PBR:  Why did you choose Georgetown?
BARRECA: I chose Georgetown because of the mixture of high-level academics and baseball. The school offers on campus research for my desired major and great facilities for athletics.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?
BARRECA: Other schools I considered were: Maryville University, Kirkwood CC, Iowa Central CC, Southeastern CC, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, South Carolina Upstate, and Quincy University.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
BARRECA: The coaches first saw me at their prospect camp in Maryland. My relationship developed very quickly. I got to know all of the coaches at camp and some of the players, too. After the camp we communicated via email and text.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
BARRECA: Naturally it will be competitive, but I am excited to join the team and work hard for playing time.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
BARRECA: It's hard to choose one! I have been fortunate to have so many great coaches and teammates during my career.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
BARRECA: Since last year I have worked on changing my swing in order to elevate more baseballs into each gap. I ran track in the spring and this helped improve my speed. I have also worked on my receiving skills as well as my pop time.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have played against or with?
BARRECA: I have played with and against some fantastic players, including : Ian Bedell, Will Christophersen, Brayden Frazier, Luke Ira, Nic McCay, Sam Nozicka, Conner Van Scoyoc, Tynan Shahidi, TJ Sikkema, Trenton Wallace, just to name a few.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for other players who have the desire to play college baseball.
BARRECA: My best advice is to keep your options open during recruiting. Also, showcases are a great way to set a baseline performance level for yourself, but showcases or camps with gameplay allow coaches to get to see your skills firsthand, getting to know you as a player and a leader.
