PBR: Why did you choose Minnesota State- Mankato?
SCHNEIDER: I chose my school based off of the winning culture of the baseball program as well as the school itself having a quality business program which is what I want to go into major wise. Having the chance to compete for a national title is a very appealing aspect of a school. Having a great baseball program matched with a high quality business program gave me the best of both worlds in my choice.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
SCHNEIDER: My next top choice for a school was Augustana University.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
SCHNEIDER: With the recruiting process being over I am very relieved. To be able to go out every game and play stress free is a feeling I haven't had in a while. It feels good to have the decision over with and to just go play the game I love.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
SCHNEIDER: Between the two schools my decision came down to the school itself. I like the feel of a larger college much better. As well as the facilities on the educational side. From the dorms to the classrooms everything was top notch.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
SCHNEIDER: The person who has helped me get this far has definitely been my dad. He has given so much of his time helping me perfect my craft from taking off work to travel 6 hours or more spending hours at the field for as long as I could remember. With him having to travel state to state to watch my brother play for SDSU he still managed to miss as few games of mine as possible. Being the first person to make sure I don't miss workouts and always reminding me to hustle more than I have to have been two of the biggest factors in helping me get to the skill level I am at now.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
SCHNEIDER: The recruiting process I knew was going to be long and stressful. I wouldn't necessarily say it was hard, but more time consuming and stressful than anything. The only true hard part was deciding from two great schools. I’m just glad that it's over and that I've made a great decision with where I want to go to school and play ball.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
SCHNEIDER: My freshman season is going to consist of getting bigger and stronger of course but also to fight for a spot in the infield or possibly anywhere on the field. There will be a possibility of a couple open spots early but that clearly doesn't mean it’s mine. I’m looking forward to the inter squad competition of working hard for those spots that need filled.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
SCHNEIDER: My most memorable part of baseball in my life to this date probably has to be getting that starting shortstop job my sophomore year in high school. They had told me that maybe a couple different spots would be better but I knew what I was capable of so I put the extra work in and ended up winning over the spot that I had been wanting for so long. Which all in all made it that much more exciting when it happened.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
SCHNEIDER: Hands down my favorite person to play against is Sam Goodman. Although I've only gotten a few at bats against him they were all the most challenging and fun of any. He's got such a great arsenal of pitches that it truly does make it hard hitting off of him at times, but that just makes it more fun.
