Prep Baseball Report's Eastern IA Prospect I.D. event took place on Sunday, March 6, 2016. The event was held at Eastern Iowa Sports Facility in Monticello, IA. The event featured prospects from the 2016-2017-2018 and 2019 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and multiple coaches in attendance.

Each day we will breakdown the players in attendance by position; highlighting the top player in attendance; and culminating with our list of the Top Prospects Overall at the event.

Nate Stolze, C, Urbandale, 2017
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 4.35 home-to-first time. Strong compact build. Simple controlled leg kick trigger. Collapses down in swing- changes eye levels occasionally. Shows line drive swing plane with some present strength. Stays down and through baseball at contact. 2-hole type bat with avg. pop. 84 mph exit velocity. Polished catcher for 2017 class. Shows above avg. ability to receive, throw, and block. Throws have carry from good arm action. Has quickness and flexibility behind plate. 1.97 pop time with 77 mph arm strength. Will see significant jump in IA 2017 rankings.

Sam Chilcote, C, Waterloo Columbus, 2019
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 5.2 home-to-first time. Front heel turn trigger. Swoop to bat path. Mid-pull approach with occasional solid contact. 64 mph exit velocity. Has soft hands and decent flexibility. Needs to continue to improve mechanically and build arm strength. 2.75 pop time with 60 mph throws to second base.

Connor Crabill, 3B/C/RHP, Dubuque Hempstead, 2018
5-foot-8, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.63 home-to-first time. Leg kick trigger. Some extra movement but has good rhythm to swing. Shows good pop in bat with loose hands. Will improve with greater extension through after contact. Shows ability to hit to all fields. 82 mph exit velocity. Solid set-up and glove presentation. Needs to improve strength receiving; sticking pitch in zone. Solid feet with mostly clean exchanges. Long release on throws. Shows solid arm strength. 2.28 pop time with 76 mph arm strength.

Kane Fairman, C, Cedar Falls, 2017
5-foot-9, 170-pound switch-hitting catcher. Pull hitter from left-side. Needs to improve balance. Shows better contact from right-side with better pop in bat. High back elbow restricts bat path to contact. Some loft pop in bat. 82 mph exit velocity. High target while receiving. Shows soft hands and some flexibility behind plate. Raw in most areas. Flashed some quick exchanges glove to hand. Low exchange slot creating longer release on throws. 2.19 pop time with 68 mph arm strength.

Will Fox, C, Hamilton (IL), 2017
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 4.2 home-to-first time. Stronger build. All pull approach with occasional to middle. Longer bat path to contact. Shows balance in box. Consistent solid contact with avg. pop. Inconsistent hand slot to swing. 81 mph exit velocity. Receives out front with locked wrist. Still shows some glove softness. Long release after exchange. Lacks explosion with lower half. 2.37 pop time with 67 mph arm strength.

Cole Hassman, C, Southeast Polk, 2017
6-foot-2, 245-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 4.44 home-to-first time. Especially strong build. Quiet approach at plate. Repeats swing well. Pull approach with above avg. pop in bat. Consistent hard contact. 93 mph exit velocity off tee. Solid receiver to glove side of plate. Clean exchanges. Appropriate footwork on throws. Avg. flexibility behind dish. Needs to improve arm strength/arm action to catch on a daily basis. 2.32 pop time with 70 mph arm strength.

Jordan Jackson, C/RHP, Washburn Rural (KS), 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.37 home-to-first time. Double tap trigger with crouched stance. Long bat path to contact. Shows avg. pop in bat. Needs to improve use of lower half in swing and create leverage at contact. 74 mph exit velocity. High set-up behind plate. Avg. strength for age receiving pitches. Avg. mobility. Needs to improve on throwing footwork behind plate. Long release on throws. 2.38 pop time with 70 mph arm strength.

Mason Leinbach, C, Burlington, 2018
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 4.41 home-to-first time. Front heel turn trigger. Avg./ok balance in box. Solid contact. Oppo approach. Consistent line-drive swing plane. Lacks strength in bat. Should improve with maturity. Solid follow behind plate with energy, flexibility, and athleticism. Raw receiving. Extra body movement to receive. Needs to be stronger with glove. Loses direction/momentum to second base. Clean exchanges with short release on throws. 78 mph exit velocity.69 mph arm strength with 2.19 pop time.

Nick Oldfather, C, Edgewood-Colesburg, 2016
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 4.44 home-to-first time. Stiff swing mechanics. Short finish after contact. Lacks extension through baseball. Groundball contact off bat. Avg. pop in bat. 78 mph exit velocity off tee. High set-up behind plate. Receives with thumb down losing strength to hold balls in zone. Long arm action on release. 2.4 pop time with 69 mph arm strength.

Brett Swalve, C, Camanche, 2018
6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 4.41 home-to-first time. Slightly open stance. Decent rhythm in swing. Clean bat path. Some extra movement. Looks to drive baseball with mid/pull approach. Flashes slightly above avg. pop with solid contact. 86 mph exit velocity. Shows solid receiving ability. Strength in hands. Blocks well. Slight hitch in release on throws with good exchange and feet. Should continue to improve on solid present skills behind plate. 2.04 pop time with 73 mph arm strength. Good follow in 2018 class.

Griffin Wilder, C, North Scott, 2020
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Physical for age and above avg. runner. 3.98 home-to-first time. Strength in swing. Crude mechanics. Uphill swing plane with limited use of back half through contact. 78 mph exit velocity. Solid blocker. Avg. receiver. Should continue to improve through high school. Short cut off release on throws. Needs to improve sync with exchange and footwork. Physical and athletic for age with raw mechanics. 69 mph arm strength with 2.47 pop time.
