Prep Baseball Report Iowa held the Fall Underclass Showcase in W. Des Moines, IA  at WDM Valley High School on October 10th, 2014.  The event was for 2016 and 2017 graduates with Iowa and Wisconsin players represented. In our coverage we have broken down the prospects by their respective position.

infielders

Drew Prange, SS, Ankeny Centennial, 2016
5-foot-11, 160-pound shortstop. 8.18 60 time. Left-handed hitter with narrow stance to start. Tall to fall hitting approach. Linear feel to swing. Good hand-eye coordination. Consistently barreled ball hard to middle of field. 79 mph exit velocity. Ok actions in middle. Gloves works. Makes routine plays. Lacks foot-speed but makes plays. Arm works very well. Fast arm with carry and accuracy. 77 mph across infield.

Cal Stalzer, SS/RHP, WDM Valley, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound 2-way player. 7.44 60 time. Right-handed hitter with pre-set flat bat position. Front heel turn trigger into swing. Shows bat speed. Good hand-eye coordination producing solid line drives across field. 79 mph exit velocity. Good rhythm and energy defensively. Shows proper footwork and works through ball efficiently. Hands are above average and has ability to make body control plays. Arm works well and has arm speed along with accuracy across diamond at 79 mph.

Fischer Henderson, SS, Waukee, 2017
5-foot-11, 150-pound shortstop. 7.48 60 time. Left-handed hitter with deep circular load. Starts slightly open and strides in-line to contact. Level bat path through zone with consistent solid contact to pull side. 77 mph exit velocity. Aggressive routes to ball. Shows quality hands and feet making plays. Has athleticism moving to his left. Good body control. Arm works well from high ¾ slot. 76 mph across infield.

Dylan Appenzeller, RHP/3B, Boone, 2017
5-foot-11, 180-pound 2-way player. 7.88 60 time. Right-handed hitter with short easy load. No stride approach. Uphill bat path through zone. 74 mph exit velocity. Average actions defensively with with short arm action from over-the-top slot. 73 mph across infield.

Casey Boatwright, SS/RHP, Bondurant Farrar, 2016
5-foot-11, 150-pound 2-way player. 7.68 60 time. Right-handed hitter with average rhythm in swing. Slight load with short stride. Short to contact with high finish. 78 mph exit velocity. Aggressive routes to ball. Active feet. Tends to field up to down. Arms works cleanly from high ¾ slot with slight hitch in release. 80 mph across infield.

Michael Henter, RHP/1B, Waukee, 2017
6-foot-6, 215-pound 2-way player. 8.35 60 time. Right-handed hitter with low hand set, double tap inline stride, and uphill swing plane. Produces some strength with long levers. 80 mph exit velocity. Defensively shows adequate actions and ability to play first base. Big target at bag with good feet receiving throws.

Jonathan Luster, SS/RHP, Ballard, 2016
5-foot-9, 150-pound 2-way player. 8.13 60 time. Left-handed hitter with open stance. Aggressive swings. Drives through contact very well. Middle-pull approach with ability to keep bat in zone for long time. 79 mph exit velocity. Shows average actions in field. Ability to make routine play. Some quickness to glove side. Over-the-top slot throwing 74 mph across infield with accuracy.

Dylan Riley, SS/RHP, Sioux City East, 2016
6-foot-1, 170-pound 2-way player. 8.00 60 time. Right-handed hitter with above average pop to pull side. Stiff upper half in swing. Uphill swing plane with short finish. 84 mph exit velocity. Shows average actions in field. Moves more fluidly to his left. Makes routine plays. Short arm action from ¾ slot- 70 mph across infield.

Zachary Robeoltman, 2B, WDM Valley, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound second baseman. 7.72 60 time. Right-handed hitter. Starts hands in front of chest. Rhythmic load and balanced stride. Level line-drive swing plane with solid contact. Good separation after contact. Gap to gap approach. 77 mph exit velocity. Works hard at getting into good fielding position. Very active feet. Reads angles well. Average/ok glove. Has hand speed on throws. Tends to drop elbow at times effecting carry and accuracy. 73 mph across infield.

Will Rodruck, RHP/3B, WDM Valley, 2017
5-foot-11, 190-pound 2-way player. 8.05 60 time. Right-handed hitter with easy gradual load. Simple swing. Not a lot of wasted movement. Balanced stride with minimal weight shift through contact. Uphill swing plane. Fly ball hitter. 78 mph exit velocity. Average foot-speed and tends to field up to down. Average glove. Throws from mid ¾ slot with velocity of 80 mph across diamond.

Jonny Rozeboom, RHP/1B, Waukee, 2016
6-foot-3, 206-pound 2-way player. 7.56 60 time. Right-handed hitter with square stance, long load, and slight leg kick to stride trigger. Shows above average bat speed during BP. Gap to gap approach with level line drive swing plane. Exit velocity 71 mph. Average actions on left side of infield. Shows usable hands. Throws flat-footed at times. Long arm actions with 74 mph velocity across diamond.

DeShawn Welch, RHP/2B, Indianola, 2016
6-foot-1, 175-pound 2-way player. 7.82 60 time. Right-handed hitter with level swing plane. Pre-set hand position with ok rhythm. Long stride into contact. Pull approach with 69 mph exit velocity. Shows average actions in field. Field balls flat footed with limited momentum. Arm works well with accuracy across at 75 mph.
