PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
GALLT: I chose Iowa Lakes Community College because I was very impressed with the coaches and felt comfortable with them. I also felt like I will have the opportunity for playing time at Iowa Lakes and this is really important for me in my development as a player trying to move onto more baseball in the future. I also know a player, Tavan Shahidi, that played there a few years ago and he talked very highly of the program at Iowa Lakes and was recruited to a Division 1 school after Iowa Lakes.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
GALLT: I was also interested in various other community colleges in Iowa like DMACC and Illinois and a few small 4 year schools like St. Cloud State.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
GALLT: The coaching staff first heard of me from my club baseball program, 3ts All Stars, and they were able to watch video footage of me from games/showcases. My relationship with the college coach developed over phone/text conversations and during a college visit.  We have kept in touch weekly since our first visit.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
GALLT: Yes – I feel like I can focus more on developing my game instead of focusing on picking a school.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
GALLT: The deciding factor for me was the coaches. I was looking for coaches that were honest and real. I also was looking for coaches who truly see my potential and want to develop my skills so I can move onto the next level in baseball and I feel the coaches at Iowa Lakes will help me reach my goals and potential.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
GALLT: I feel the people that have helped me get to where I am today are my Dad, by club baseball coaches at 3ts All Stars (the Shahidi family), and my teammates. My Dad spent a lot of time playing ball with me in our yard when I was younger and then my club coaches taught me about hard work and effort. My teammates help push me to my full potential and they help keep the game fun.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
GALLT: I didn’t know what to expect from the recruiting process and I was stressed and intimidated by it. I was surprised by how accessible the Iowa Lakes coaches were to talk to and this helped ease the process.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
GALLT: The coaches want to help me get stronger, hit harder, throw faster and harder, and develop my skills. They would like for me to see some playing time in the infield.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
GALLT: My most memorable baseball moment was hitting my first homerun.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
GALLT: The best player I have competed against is Adam Brauch from Dowling High school.  Adam was short stop for Dowling and it was hard to get a hit past him.
