The PBR IA Fall Review event took place on Sunday, October 27, 2019. The event was held at Sports Iowa in Ames, IA. The event featured prospects from the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and numerous college coaches in attendance. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR IA Fall Review.

catchER EVALUATIONS

Mitch Fordyce, C/SS, Waterloo West, 2021
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 6.91 runner. Square stance with leg kick trigger, loads into lower slot, works through baseball with lift to finish, shows hard contact to middle of field, 91 mph exit velocity. Works around and through, sure hands, short arm action, avg. actions and is accurate to bag on throws, 81 mph across infield. Wide base with flexibility, long release on throws, accurate to bag with flashes of carry, strong hands, shows ability to receive, 76 mph arm strength with 2.10-2.22 pop times.

Colton Forslund, C/OF, Cedar Rapids Prairie, 2021
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.6 runner. Narrow open stance, easy stride, simple swing, repeats well, consistent solid contact, line drive approach working gap to gap, 73 mph exit velocity. Solid athlete in outfield, works through ball, comfortable to field, avg. carry with accuracy on throws, 78 mph arm strength from outfield. Quicker feet with short arm action, quick release to bag with avg. accuracy, extra movements to receive, avg. blocker, 69 mph arm strength with 2.13-2.30 pop times.

Charlie North, C, Oskaloosa, 2022
6-foot-1, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.51 runner. Slight open stance striding to square, balanced in box, line drive swing plane, shows occasional pop in bat, consistent solid contact, gap to gap hitter, 79 mph exit velocity. Flexible lower half, sits low, clean exchanges, longer winding arm action, avg. accuracy to base, solid blocker behind plate, needs continued development and strength to hold pitches in zone, 71 mph arm strength with 2.30-2.39 pop times.

Dylan Page, C/1B, Linn-Marr, 2021
6-foot-2, 210-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.82 runner. Larger frame with strength, short to contact, balanced in box, shows extension through contact, consistent hard contact, works mid/pull side of field, 84 mph exit velocity. Sure hands, receives well around bag, shows appropriate footwork. 76 mph arm strength across infield. Some length to exchange with slower feet, accurate to bag, avg. carry on throws, 73 mph arm with 2.25-2.31 pop times. Sits low with solid flexibility, holds pitches in zone, above avg. blocking actions keeping ball in front.

Jackson Powell, C, Ankeny Centennial, 2021
6-foot-2, 185-pound left-handed hitting catcher. #75 ranked player in Iowa 2021 class. 8.03 runner. Relaxed stance, easy stride, rhythm in load, slight lift through contact, consistently squared baseball with flashes of pop, easy actions in batters box, 83 mph exit velocity. Narrow stance, receives well, keeps pitches in zone, avg. blocker, quicker feet, clean exchanges, occasional long stride, solid accuracy to base, 74 mph arm with 2.05-2.15 pop times.

Jake Shedarowich, C/2B, Gilbert, 2022
5-foot-9, 156-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.90 runner. Square stance with short stride, arm bar in load, some bat speed, grooved path, solid spray contact off barrel, gap to gap approach, 71 mph exit velocity. Works through ball, fields out front, sure hands, accurate to bag, second base actions, 70 mph arm across infield. Soft hands behind plate, explosive to block, quicker feet, extra step in catch and throw, winding arm action, solid/avg. accuracy, 71 mph arm strength with 2.28-2.39 pop times.

5-foot-9, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.16 runner. Strong compact frame, square stance, easy leg kick trigger, short to contact, barrels leaves zone early occasionally, hard pull side contact, 78 mph exit velocity. Low slot, sinking action on throws, avg. accuracy to bag, 71 mph arm strength with 2.25-2.38 pop times.
