Prep Baseball Report's PBR Winter Open- Quad Cities event took place on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. The event was held at Fielder's Choice in Milan, IL. The event featured prospects from the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 classes from Iowa and Illinois who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff.

Anthony Barrios, RHP/1B, Rock Island Alleman, 2018
6-foot-2, 195-pound right-handed hitting RHP/1B. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed toe landing and some rhythm. Fastball was straight at 76-78 mph for strikes. Curveball has 11-5 shape with some depth at 66-68 mph. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup at 72-73 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open stance with a short leg lift stride. Short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.42 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm angle. Threw 77 mph across the infield.

Kanyon Cooksley, RHP, East Buchanan, 2018
6-foot-1, 158-pound right-handed pitcher. Lean build. Travels across rubber. Short balance point, opens early, and lands across body in delivery. Short draw on back side of arm circle and releases from OT slot. Tended to be up in zone with fastball at 74-75 mph with straight action. Inconsistent shape on breaking ball with slight break at 65-66 mph. Average action and fade on changeup thrown at 70-71 mph.

Graysen Drezek, RHP/SS, North Scott, 2020
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Projectable strong frame with present ability on mound. Controlled delivery on mound with good body control and direction. Long arm action, slight wrap on backside, with extension out front. Consistently 80-82 mph with late action on fastball for strikes. 11/5 breaking ball shows spin and depth. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed, has deception, and shows quality late ASR. As a position player; 4.26 home-to-first time. Slightly open stance, knee to knee trigger, produces good bat speed, tends to fall over plate occasionally, mid/away approach with consistent hard contact, 87 mph exit velocity off tee. Usable hands and feet, tends to field underneath occasionally, winds up to throw, above avg. arm action with accuracy to bag, 82 mph arm strength across diamond.

Christian Grems, SS/RHP, Orion, 2020
5-foot-11, 168-pound right-handed hitting SS/RHP. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride. Short, uphill swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.25 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Threw 63 mph across the infield. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing and some rhythm. Good balance throughout delivery. Fastball sat 68-69 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 55-56 mph. Changeup sat 58-61 mph.

Noah Harder, RHP, Oswego East, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Works exclusively out of the stretch. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing and some rhythm. Fastball sat 73-76 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 64-65 mph with some depth. Maintained arm speed on changeup at 67-69 mph for strikes.

Erik Hoffman, 3B/RHP, Rock Island Alleman, 2018
6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting 3B/RHP with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a wide, closed off base. Heel lift stride with average balance. Line drive hitter with a long swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.01 runner down the line. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Throws showed carry across the infield throwing 76 mph. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Drop and drive delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with smooth rhythm and good balance though out. Gets underneath his fastball occasionally at 78-79 topping out at 80 mph. Curveball has short breaking, sweeping action at 65-66 mph. Changeup flashed sink at 70-73 mph.

Jaylan Jones, 3B/RHP, Ottumwa, 2018
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Strong build with defined muscular frame. 4.36 home-to-first time. Slightly open stance, simple repeatable swing, stays short to contact, with slight uphill plane. 78 mph exit velocity off tee. Plays through ball well, solid actions, usable glove, and has short repeatable arm action with hand speed and accuracy. 78 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; fluid rhythm on mound with body control and direction. Simple delivery, compact arm circle, slight wrap on backside, and ball comes out clean in front. Slight downhill plane on fastball at 75-76 mph; consistently for strikes. Tends to wrap 11/5 breaking ball early; showing adequate spin and break. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed and avg. action and fade.

Sam McCune, LHP/1B, WDM Valley, 2019
6-foot-4, 215-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Previously unknown prospect. Performed extremely well at event. Projects physically with sturdy large frame. Shows easy effort on mound with quick loose arm action from the left-side. Has body control and direction with rhythm in delivery. Ball is very quick out of hand and jumps on hitters at the plate. Fastball was 81-82 mph with varying late action for strikes. Breaking ball was 68-70 mph with tight spin and late 2/8 break. Present changeup is avg. with varying command and action at 75-76 mph. As a position player; 4.12 home-to-first time. Slight rhythm in hands, front heel turn trigger, short to contact, avg. use of lower half, consistent solid contact to middle of field, 89 mph exit velocity. Shows solid range, active feet, works to field out front, with usable glove and actions, 78 mph arm strength across diamond.

Jake Reusch, LHP/OF, Mercer County, 2019
5-foot-7, 145-pound switch hitting LHP/OF. On the mound works from a low ¾ to side arm angle. Uptempo, drop and drive delivery with effort. Fastball sat 73-75 topping out at 76 mph. Curveball showed sweeping action at 66-67 mph. Changeup blended with fastball at 781-73 mph. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Showed off raw arm strength in the outfield throwing 78 mph. Offensively from both sides hits from a balanced set up with an aggressive leg kick stride and a collapse on the backside. Showed strength thru contact with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.4 runner down the line.

Collin Rogiers, RHP/3B, Rock Island Alleman, 2018
6-foot-3, 197-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B with a lanky, projectable frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action and stab on the backside. Works exclusively from the stretch, tall and fall delivery with some rhythm. Fastball sat 78-80 mph. Slider has short cutting action at 69-73 mph. Showed feel for his changeup at 67-69 mph with sinking action. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Showed off arm strength throwing 81 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short, leg kick stride and fair balance. Short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.15 runner down the line.

Brandon Secor, LHP, Waterloo East, 2017
5-foot-11, 150-pound left-handed pitcher. Smaller frame on mound with good body control and rhythm in delivery. Drop and drive to the plate with solid direction. Clean arm action from OT arm slot, hides ball well, and throws strikes. Fastball was 73-75 mph. Breaking ball shows flashes of depth at 63-66 mph. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with straight action at 65-66 mph.

Logan Swartz, RHP, Rock Island Alleman, 2019
6-foot-6, 255-pound right-handed pitcher with an extra large frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with some rhythm and a square landing. Works down the mound well. Fastball sat 77-79 mph for strikes. Curveball has tight rotation with sweeping action at 69-70 mph for strikes. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup at 74-75 mph with slight sinking action for strikes.
