The Quad Cities Open Tournament- Officially Scouted By PBR Iowa was held this weekend in Bettendorf, IA at the TBK Bank Sports Complex. PBR Iowa was able to scout game action and accrue notes and highlights on athletes participating in the tournament.

QC STICKs gray 18U
Jake Reusch, LHP, 2019- uncommitted 2019 with ability on mound and in field. Smaller athletic frame. Competes well on mound. Mostly 79-81 mph with late arm-side run and sink. Sweeping break on curveball; lands for strikes. Above avg. fade and sink on changeup with solid command.
Payton Lawrence, RHP, 2019- sat 82-84 mph on mound from lower ¾ arm slot, competes extremely well on mound, showed sharp late breaking slider at 74-75 mph and was a swing and miss pitch.
Bryan Verdon, RHP, 2019- sat mostly 85 mph with fastball touching 87 mph. Bulldog mentality. Heavy fastball with varying movement. 77-78 mph cutter with small shape and late break.
CMA GATORS
Ernis Lozada, SS, 2019- Uncommitted senior infielder and was one of the top players in attendance. Shows athleticism with quick twitch actions. Has surprising pop in lean 6-1, 170-pound frame. Showed ability to drive balls to gaps. Above avg. arm strength with carry and accuracy to bag. Has above avg. feet and glove with fluid actions in field.
Ryan Galarza, C, 2019- medium sturdy frame. Easy movements on field. Quiet behind plate with ability to stick pitches in zone. Good feet and reacts well to balls in dirt. 2.00-2.05 pop times with carry and accuracy to bag.
CR COUGARS 18U
Ajay Marino, OF, 2020- Left-handed that shows solid speed and athleticism. Moves well around the field. Had sharp line drive double down left field line. Showed good reads/jumps in outfield taking away at least two for sure hits away from opposing team.
Jake Weissenberger, MIF, 2019- moves well in field, has sure hands, with above avg. range. Covers ground well in the infield with accurate throws to bag.
Clayton DeBrower, RHP, 2019- has solid frame on mound. Pitched at 79-80 mph. 12/6 breaking ball at 70-72 shows solid 12/6 shape. Changeup has solid fade and sink down in zone.
Jason Burkhart, OF, 2020- Solid athletic frame, present lean strength, line drive hitter with pull approach.
IOWA PROSPECTS
Aidan McGee, OF, 2021- Athletic frame with above avg. bat speed, collected multiple doubles along with deep home run to left. Plays with bigger motor, moves quickly around field, is solid runner, and will be a strong follow in Iowa 2021 class.
Dillon Kuehl, LHP, 2022- medium build with present strength. Kuehl pitched competitively commanding his fastball to arm-side of plate. Sat 76-79 mph with flashes of late running action. Breaking ball continued to improve with reps; showing tight spin with 1/7 shape and has depth. Shows good 2 pitch mix for a freshman and will be a follow in the IA 2022 class.
Evan Borst, SS/RHP, 2021- played extremely well defensively on Sunday showing ability to make above avg. plays at short. Has bat speed at plate, seems to barrel baseball consistently in almost every at bat. Was 77-78 mph with arm-side running action to fastball. Breaking ball was 64-67 mph with 11/5 shape for strikes.
Caleb Corbin, UTL, 2021- 77-78 mph with varying movement on fastball. Out pitch is 64-66 mph breaking ball; has ability to throw in any count and land for strikes. Also had hard line drive single collecting 2 RBI’s.
Charlie Corell, 3B, 2021- Solid defensively with good hands at third base, lean athletic frame, quick bat at plate collecting a double and single.
IA STICKS RED 18U
Gabriel Followell, OF, 2019- lean athletic frame, shows quickness in bat, plays fast in field, line drive approach with ability to hit to all fields.
Cody Wolfe, 3B/RHP, 2019- solid frame, showed good command to both sides of plate, fastball was predominantly 79-81 mph. Late break with 12/6 shape on curveball for strikes. Flat arm-side running action on changeup. Also added a home run to left-center in game action.
IA STICKS SCOUT 16U
Evan Taylor, C, 2021- good frame with present strength, compact swing, has pull pop in bat, uses all fields, quick transfer with 2.09 pop times.
Sam Petersen, IF, 2021- Above avg. baserunner, has quickness, present strength in frame with athleticism, short quick swing, line drive hitter, with ability to drive baseballs to both gaps.
Gabe Swansen, UTL, Johnston- smaller frame, runs well, high OBP, aggressive swings, shows ability to use whole field.
MILWAUKEE BASEBALL ACADEMY
Kaleb Hausley, OF, 2019- Athletic actions in field and on bases, proto rightfielder build, solid arm, choppy swing but has present strength with ability to drive baseball.
Tyler Loebel, OF, 2020- looks to be an above avg. runner, projectable frame, athletic with pull approach in box.
Noah Glidden, SS, 2019- longer lean frame, solid athlete, runs bases well, sure hands, shows accurate arm to bag. Line drive and ground ball hitter. Makes consistent solid contact.
Trevor Collicott, OF, 2021- smaller athletic frame, clean swing, solid rhythm.
MN BLIZZARD GOLD
Ben Nippolt, SS, 2019- Smooth swing with quick hands at plate. Squares baseball consistently. Shows ability to use whole field.
Rico Rodriguez, UTL, 2019- singles hitter who routinely squares baseball, shows confident approach, aggressive on bases.
Evan Shaw, LHP, 2019- Loose arm producing 79-81 mph fastballs with varying movement, lacks use of front side in delivery, loopy breaking ball upsets timing to hitter, throws strikes and and competes well in lower half of zone.
MN ICEMEN
Dylan Wilson, 3B, 2020- shows above avg. glove and feet at third base. Left-handed hitter, has clean swing plane, with line drive pop hitting ground rule double down right-field line.
NORTHSTAR NEON- 18U
Branden Huwe, C, 2020- Quick transfer producing low 2.0 pop times. Lower arm slot effects accuracy and carry. Bat is carrying tool; hits line drives to all field, consistently on time and seems to barrel everything.
Nick Friedman, 3B, 2020- Good feet and hands at third base. Big swing with aggressive approach at plate. Squares baseball with authority to all fields with line drives.
Nick Holland, RHP, 2019- Attacks hitters with 78-80 mph fastball showing late arm side run and good command of zone. 72-73 mph curveball has tight spin with late break for strikes.
Timmy Smith, RHP, 2019- Lower ¾ arm slot producing 78-80 mph fastball with late run and sink. 12/6 curveball has tight spin with late sharp break at the plate.
NORTHSTAR NEON- 16U
Jackson Kieffer, C/3B, 2021- LHH, good approach at plate, short quick swing, solid contact every AB, good defensive infielder with soft hands.
Mason Mortimer, UTL, 2021- long body, extremely athletic frame, flat swing, stays through zone well and stays on contact.
Ethan Voss, RHP/OF, 2021- long lanky frame, loose arm, worked 77-78 mph topping out at 81 mph. 62-64 mph curveball with large shape and break to plate.
QC STICKS 16U
Seth Claussen, IF, 2021- shows good hands and feet in field, quick release with accuracy on throws, and is always moving in field showing athletic actions.
Carter Furness, RHP, 2021- Bulldog mentality on mound and competes well. Consistently attacked hitters working predominantly middle/in. Fastball has solid life with varying action at plate with 80-83 mph velocity.
Kaleb Seil, C, 2021- showed well behind plate, solid receiver, blocks well, avg. pop times to second base.
Blake Gaskey, RHP, 2021- lean athletic frame. Has been consistent performer on mound all fall. 80-83 mph with varying action on fastball.
WI STIKS ACADEMY 16U
Logan TeTourneau, UTL, 2021- Shows above avg. pop in bat. Projectable power.
Joey Spence, C, 2021- Above avg. defensive catcher. Low 2.0 pop times. Accurate with clean release. Handles pitching staff, receives baseball well, solid build behind dish. Also shows ability with bat while hitting from the left-side.
Matthew Pollacheck, OF, 2021- vs. the QC Sticks showed pop in bat with deep home run to left field collecting 3 RBI’s in game.
Q Phillips, OF, 2021- Sets table well from lead-off spot, rarely chases pitches, works count, seems to be on base almost every at bat, has above avg. speed, quality base runner, and squares baseball with line drive approach.
Grant Ross, IF, 2021- Above avg. pop in bat. Towering home run to left field for Stiks Academy squad.
Bobby Ball, SS, 2021- smaller athletic frame, plays fast, confident defender with soft hands and good feet, runs bases well, looks to have solid speed. Above avg. ability to pick and throw across diamond.
