10/21/17 - Impressive physical specimen, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Arizona State recruit has proportional strength with room for continued development. Van Scoyoc stymied a talented Gators lineup for three hits in six innings behind a three-pitch arsenal that he he shuffled just enough to keep hitters off balance. His fastball has ticked up since last look, topping at 91 mph with some arm-side finish through the zone. He also threw his 74-75 mph for strikes and mixed in a 79-82 changeup that showed some arm-side fade. Van Scoyoc struck out nine and walked none, though he did hit five batters when he fell out of sync. Van Scoyoc is long-limbed and has a long takeaway in the back. He generates velocity with little effort and was unflappable on the mound, even when the rain poured down on him for a half-inning.
2016 Future Games- 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. Exceptional frame on mound. Good athlete. #54 ranked 2018 in PBR Overall. Will continue to fill out frame with quality size and strength. Slightly out of sync in this outing, early hand break in delivery, and tended to rush to home. Mid ¾ arm slot producing heavy run into RHH. Breaking ball has improved with sweeping 2-plane break. Fastball was 83-86 mph; touching 88 mph.

Fastball has exploding ASR and routinely pounds RHH in with command. Heavy fastball is currently 84-86; touching 87 mph. Flashed above avg. breaking ball with 11/5 shape and tight rotation. Above avg. depth on pitch. Changeup is thrown with plus arm speed and shows above avg. fade with depth. Equipped with the ability to pitch and above average current stuff; Van Scoyoc has one of the highest ceilings in the 2018 class nationally.

July 2015- In his last appearance; Van Scoyoc appeared in relief and was throwing 84-86 mph topping out at 87. His fastball shows quality 2-seam run and he is able to command the inner portion of the plate vs. RHH. Breaking ball was 72-74 mph with above average rotation and solid depth. Sporadically threw a changeup at 79-80 mph.
