The Buzz: Daniel Tillo (IA) Catching Attention

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

Maryland doesn’t routinely churn out high-end draft picks, but had at least one arm to closely follow this spring. However, RHP Cody Morris (Reservoir HS, MD) had an inconsistent spring and is now set to have Tommy John surgery next month. When healthy, Morris can run his fastball into the low 90s and has a big, strong frame to boot. A South Carolina recruit, he could develop into a premium pick with the Gamecocks. With Morris injured, the next prospect with any kind of buzz is RHP Hunter Parsons (Parkside HS, MD), a Maryland recruit. Parsons has some arm strength, capable of sitting 90-91 mph, and reportedly was up to 94 at a recent workout. His breaking ball is still a work-in-progress and he’s likely to wind up on campus, but he’s a name to keep in mind down the road.
