Today we take a look at Riley Jackson, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound, left-handed hitting C/OF from Lexington Catholic HS who is ranked No. 7 in the Kentucky class of 2014.

Behind the plate, Jackson possesses very good all around tools.  He is a good receiver of the baseball, shows good blocking ability and lateral movement, and shows an accurate arm with good arm strength from the crouch.  He has a quick glove to hand transfer and release which leads to a best pop time of 1.94. 

With a 60 time of 6.8, Jackson has the athleticism and arm strength to be a very good outfielder as well.  While he has been mainly a catcher to this point in his baseball career, there is no question about his ability to do multiple things defensively on the field. 

At the plate, the left-handed hitting Jackson shows good balance and a quick bat that produces line drives to all fields.  He shows good ability as a left-handed bat at the top of the order, capable of hitting lead off or in the two-hole.  He uses the bunt well as a weapon offensively, as we saw him paint the 3rd base line with a bunt for a hit in a game this fall.

As he heads into his junior season, Jackson, who's older brother Tyler is a freshman catcher at Ole Miss, is an interesting prospect to follow.  His versatility should be something that bodes well for his future on the diamond at the collegiate level.
