Unsigned Senior Games: Team Royal Middle Infield Analysis

The PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games event took place at Northern Kentucky University on August 8 and provided close to 50 unsigned seniors the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the PBR Kentucky staff and several college coaches in attendance.

The following is a look at the Team Royal middle infielders who participated in the event. This is position player analysis only. Those middle infielders who also pitched at the event will have that performance featured in a subsequent article.

Tyler Graham, SS/RHP, Hopkinsville HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride with good balance, line drive type hitter with short swing, flashes occasional power to the gaps, good round of BP consistently finding the barrel, ran 4.55 down the line, 83 mph exit velocity off the tee, went 0-for-5 in game play. Showed soft hands with good lateral movement, good body control, long high-3/4 release with accurate arm, 81 mph velocity across the infield.

Cathan Shryock, SS, South Warren HS, 2016
5-foot-8, 145-pound right-handed hitter hits from an open stance and squares up with a short stride, has a short swing that produced consistent line drives in BP, gap to gap approach, average bat speed, 74 mph exit velocity off the tee, has room to get physically stronger, ran a 4.64 down the line, went 2-for-5 in game play with two singles and made contact in all at bats. Solid defender with soft hands and athletic actions, quick exchange with 3/4 release, good body control with ability to throw on the move, most throws were accurate with 80 mph velocity across the infield.

Evan Slone, SS, Ludlow HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 165-pound left-handed hitter recorded personal best exit velocity off the tee at 83 mph. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, line drive type hitter with good balance, uses all fields well, consistently found the barrel in BP, ran 4.53 down the line, went 0-for-5 in game play. Shows soft hands defensively, quick exchange with high-3/4 release, accurate arm, 78 mph velocity across the infield, good lateral movement.

Zach McKinney, 2B, Elizabethtown HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 170-pound right handed hitter hits from an open stance and squares up with a long stride, drops hands to trigger swing, long swing path, showed occasional pull side power, ran 4.62 down the line, 81 mph exit velocity off the tee, went 1-for-4 in game play with a single. Showed soft hands and good lateral movement, quick exchange with high-3/4 release, good body control with ability to throw on the move, 79 mph velocity across the infield with some accurate throws.

Brock Damron, 2B, Boyd County HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 190-pound right handed hitter hits from a wide, slightly closed stance, minimal stride, has some strength in swing with occasional gap power, 82 mph exit velocity off the tee (87 at previous event), ran 4.64 down the line, went 1-for-4 in game play with a single to RF. Showed soft hands defensively with athletic actions, high-3/4 release, accurate throws, showed a big jump in arm strength at 79 mph across the infield (71 previously).
