Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP/OF Griffin Neuer

By Chris Fuller

Griffin Neuer, RHP/OF, Lexington Catholic HS, 2014neuer

Griffin Neuer is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound, left-handed hitting RHP/OF with a lean and athletic frame that projects well.  He has attended multiple PBR events and has continued to increase his velocity on the mound, arm strength from the outfield, and exit velocity off the tee at each one.

Most recently, Neuer impressed at the Unsigned Senior Games event at Northern Kentucky University in August.

On the mound, he showcased an 83-84 mph fastball that topped out at 85 with very good arm side run from a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot.  He has good command of his 68-69 mph curveball and has the ability to throw it from different arm slots.  In addition, his changeup is solid at 74-75 mph with good run and sink.  It’s easy to imagine additional velocity gains for Neuer as he continues to fill in his lean frame.

As a position player, Neuer moves well in the outfield and has shown an increase in arm strength from 80 mph when we first saw him in February to 87 mph at the Unsigned Senior Games in August.  He runs a 6.89 60 and also registered the quickest home to first time at the Unsigned Senior Games (from the left side) at 4.21.  He is able to generate good bat speed, as evidenced by the 91 mph tee exit velocity he registered and showcased his speed from the left side in game play by beating out two infield singles while also singling hard to right field.
