Alton’s Bryan Hudson was named the first Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his hot bat and dominating mound performances, which you can read about HERE.

Several players narrowly missed out in winning the award, which we will highlight in our weekly Diamond Notes. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who have gotten off to a hot start during the spring 2015 campaign:

+ Anthony Rios, C, St. Laurence, 2016
In two games last week Rios was 6-for-7 with a triple, three RBI, seven runs, and 2 HBP. In an 11-0 win against Lake View the senior backstop was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI. In a 14-6 win over Peoria Richwoods he was 4-for5 with two RBI.

+ Mike Schalasky, C/RHP, Brother Rice, 2015
Schalasky went 6-for-9 with two doubles, two homers, and six RBI last week. Impressing against Joliet Catholic and Lincoln-Way North, homering in both games. The 6-foot two-way talent also beat No. 2 North on the mound throwing 5 scoreless innings with three hits, five strikeouts and zero walks. Defensively, threw out two of three possible base stealers.

+ Arion Worthman, INF, Normal West, 2015
After transferring in from Normal U-High, Worthman made an immediate impact for the Wildcats on their spring trip to Alabama going 8-for-10 at the plate with two doubles, a homer, ten runs scored, two HBP, four walks, four stolen bases, and four RBI.
