2021 Run-Producing Infielders

Shooter Hunt
National Crosschecker

This week, On the Hunt highlights a group of uncommitted 2021 prospects who have the potential to be run-producers at the next level while sticking on the left side of the diamond. Players on the list hail from Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Ayden Markovich 3B / SS / Casteel, AZ / 2021

Currently built with compact, natural and developing strength, Markovich has already showed signs of developing into a run-producing, left-handed bat. The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder possesses strong wrists and forearms, and puts them to use at the plate where he shows signs of producing power in the future. Starting square in with an athletic base, his hands fluently load down and deeper back before quickly working the barrel slightly uphill through the zone with a high loose finish. While getting heavy on the back side, Markovich also demonstrates the ability to lift the ball with ease, and as he continues to add strength could see a boost to his gap to gap power. On the infield, the 6.86-runner uses his speed to cover ground at third base while showcasing solid hands and adequate arm strength to stick at the hot-corner moving forward. Overall, given his strong left-handed bat and potential to stick at third base, Markovich is a player to follow closely in the future.
