2024 Future Games: Quick Hits (Game 1)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Emerson, GA- The 2024 Future Games continued yesterday for Louisiana with Game 1 against Arkansas.  After a tight 0-0 ballgame for the first three innings, the boys from the boot finally broke through and eventually went on to win by a score of 7-0.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performances from yesterday's opening game.  Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, as the Future Games continues today with Game 2 against Mississippi.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 1 VS. ARKANSAS)

+ 2026 INF Aubrey St. Angleo (Brusly HS)

The District 6-4A MVP had a stellar Game 1, and for his performance, he took home Dick's Player of the Game honors.  St. Angelo went 1-2 at the plate with a 2B and 2 RBI's.  His two-run double to RCF really shifted the momentum in favor of the Boot Boys, as it extended the lead to 3-0.  On top of his offense, he also played stellar defense at multiple positions with his biggest play being a sliding back-hand play in the six-hole.

+ 2026 RHP Hayes Holton (Loranger HS)

The Loranger product made the start in Game 1 vs. Arkansas and had to pitch in less than ideal conditions with a steady rain coming in, but he stayed composed and pitched extremely well.  Holton went after hitters with a 88-93 mph FB that probably plays best up in the zone and he showed feel to land a 75-77 mph SL for strikes.  He finished his two-inning outing giving up only 1 H and 0 ER with 0 BB and 4 K's.

+ 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

The biggest winner of Wednesday's Workout Day showed out in Game 1 yesterday against Arkansas.  Montgomery finished 1-3 and had two QAB's.  He smoked a line drive single back up the middle on a SL down & away that registered 98 mph off the bat.  The Walker product also made a heck of a running catch up against the LF wall that save a run and kept our shutout in-tact.

+ 2026 LHP Lucas Lawrence (Catholic BR HS)

6'5" 180 lbs. long, lean, and projectable frame with a ton of room to add strength.  Lawrence made a jump at our Top Prospect Games last month and made another jump yesterday, running his FB up to a personal best 89 mph.  Even better, he raised his "floor" yesterday as well, as he consistently pitched in the 85-88 mph range and stayed down in the zone.  His low-70's CB and mid-70's SL also both showed improved shape and spin with late & sharp bite.  The Catholic BR product finished his outing tossing 2 shutout IP with 2 K's.

+ 2026 INF Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)

One of the state's hottest hitters to end the spring in the '26 class, Sheets got off to a nice start yesterday in Game 1 against Arkansas.  He caught two barrels on the day with his first being a two-strike single back up the middle that registered at 94 mph off the bat and his second, was a hard ground ball that he just got on top of that registered at 93 mph off the bat.

+ 2026 RHP Grant Sunstrom (University Lab HS)

The 6'5" right-hander came in to the Future Games somewhat unknown, but after his performance yesterday, he's firmly placed himself on the map.  A smooth mover down the slope with a clean arm path, Sunstrom releases the ball from a somewhat lower 3/4 slot and hides the ball well, which makes for an uncomfortable at-bat, epsecially against RHH's.  His FB sat 82-85 mph and was heavy at times with arm-side sink and his 70-73 mph SL tunneled well off of it.  The U-High product ended up tossing two no-hit IP with 2 K's.

+ 2026 UTIL Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS)

A pest at the plate who just doesn't give in; Ledoux did exactly what we thought he would do yesterday and that is taking really good at-bats.  The Barbe product worked a 13 pitch at-bat in his first AB, fouling off tough pitch after tough pitch, before flying out to LF.  He followed that up with a backside single to finish the day 1-3 with 2 QAB's.  Ledoux also made a really nice bounder play at second base yesterday as well.

+ 2026 MIF Andrew Sharp (Captain Shreve HS)

Much like Ledoux above, Sharp is another consummate in-game performer, so it should be no surprise to us that he finished the day 1-1 with 2 BB's.  His opposite-field single yesterday was the first Future Games hit for the Boot Boys and really set the tone for the rest of the game.  The Captain Shreve product also played light outs defensively with his best play coming at third base on a diving forehand stop that prevented the runner at 2nd base from advancing.

+ 2026 RHP Ty Lamartina (Acadiana HS)

The Acadiana product came in to close the last two innings of Game 1 yesterday and did a really nice job.  Using a short & quick arm action, he worked four-seam FB's mostly to the glove-side and up in the zone at 88-90 mph.   His feel for spin is what really stands out, as he's landed his 75-77 mph SL for strikes at will with spin rates up to 2946 RPM's.  Lamartina gave up only 2 H across his 2 IP and 0 ER with 2 K's.
