2024 Future Games Preview: Position Players
July 18, 2024
Well, it's that time of the summer again, as we're just a few days away from heading east to Emerson, GA for the 2024 Prep Baseball Future Games. This invite-only event is the single largest event of the calender year for uncommitted prep prospects, who are about to enter their junior year of high school, thanks to the more than 350 college coaches that show up to the Lakepoint Sports Complex at the end of every summer. This year's Louisiana team features 19 uncommitted prospects, from different parts of the state, and is littered with talent up and down the roster. Below, we take a look at the position players on this year's squad.
2024 LOUISIANA FUTURE GAMES POSITION PLAYERS
+ 2026 C Hudson Browning (East Ascension HS)
The East Ascension product had a monster Jr. Future Games, a couple of summers ago as a 13U player, which included a towering pull-side grand slam. Browning is also a solid receiver and blocker who has a quality glove-to-hand transfer on throw downs with average arm strength. He's an offense-first backstop who can drive in runs in the middle of an order.
+ 2026 OF Kross Gillen (Opelousas Catholic HS)
6'2" 185 lbs. athletic frame with present physicality. The Opelousas Catholic product hit in the middle of a super-talented Vikings lineup this spring and projects as a potential run-producing corner outfielder at the next level. Gillen uses strong wrists and quick hands (22.3 mph avg. hand speed) to deliver a heavy barrel to contact. He does not get cheated and when on time produces loud results with exit velocities up to 97.7 mph.
+ 2026 INF/RHP Cole Guidroz (Central BR HS)
The Central BR product is a versatile defender that can play all three infield spots with solid actions and above average arm strength across the diamond. Offensively, it's a pretty simple approach, as he starts with a lower hand-set and keeps a flat path to contact and through extension. Guidroz will also toe the rubber at next week's Future Games.
+ 2026 C/RHP Ty Lamartina (Acadiana HS)
Lamartina was the Rams starting catcher this past season, as a sophomore, on route to helping Acadiana get back to the LHSAA State Tournament. He's also a quarterback for the Rams in the fall and if you're tough enough to play football at state-power Acadiana, then you're definitely tough enough to play the catching position as well. Receiving and blocking are both solid parts of his game, but his arm strength is what really stands out, as we've had him up to 80 mph from the crouch. Lamartina will also run it up to 89 mph on the mound with aptitude and feel for spin.
+ 2026 UTIL Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS)
Another former Jr. Future Gamer, pitchers had an awfully difficult time getting Ledoux out at the Jr. Future Games two years ago, and he'll look to repeat that success next week. The Barbe product finished the season as the Bucs leadoff hitter and is a guy that takes some of the best at-bats in the entire state, regardless of class. He's got advanced bat-to-ball skills and is one of the toughest guys to strike out. Defensively, he's going to get to show his positional versatility next week, as he'll see time in the infield, outfield, and even a little bit behind the plate.
+ 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)
6'4" 190 lbs. long, lean, and projectable frame with a ton of room to continue to add strength. Montgomery is arguably the most "tooled up" prospect on our squad this year, as he's a really good runner and can produce 100 mph plus exit velocities. The Walker product also produced in-game as a sophomore this past spring, hitting over .300 for the Wildcats with 7 HR this past spring.
+ 2026 INF Andrew Sharp (Captain Shreve HS)
The Captain Shreve product had an impressive spring for the Gators, and he's played exceptionally well this summer. Our VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt, got a look at Sharp at the 16U NPI and came away impressed with his overall game. A coach's son, Sharp is a high IQ player who can impact a game in a variety of ways, including on the base paths.
+ 2026 INF Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)
Broad-shouldered 6'2" 190 lbs. frame with more room to add strength. Sheets was arguably the hottest hitter at the LHSAA State Tournament this past spring, as he finished going 5-6 at the plate with three doubles. On top of that, he's another guy that is pretty versatile positionally, as he can play all four infield spots well.
+ 2026 OF Cole Snell (Parkway HS)
The Parkway product had a monster sophomore season for the Panthers this past spring, on route to earning District 1-5A MVP honors. Snell finished the year hitting .413 with 17 RBI's and also swiped 20 bags. He's a really good runner and defender out in the outfield and he'll definitely add more strength in the future to his 6'1" 155 lbs. frame.
+ 2026 INF/RHP Aubrey St. Angelo (Brusly HS)
6'0" 175 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half. St. Angelo is another District MVP heading to Lakepoint next week, after taking home the honors for District 6-4A this past season. At the plate, he swings the bat with intent and can drive the ball gap-to-gap. He's also a quality arm on the mound with a mid-80's FB and feel for a SL & CH.
+ 2026 INF Ja'Derryian Washington (Barbe HS)
Long and lean 6'2" 165 lbs. frame. Washington moved back to Louisiana from California, and has the looks of a "California Shortstop". He's got silky smooth actions on the infield with soft hands and a quick release with the ability to throw from different arm angles. Offensively, he's got a somewhat unorthodox set-up, but he still performs, as he finished this spring hitting .301 with 16 RBI, 19 R, and 20 SB.
