2024 Team Preview: West Feliciana High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state.  Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Louisiana.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sulphur, LA, home of the LHSAA State Championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality.  We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Louisiana.  We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, followed by our Power 25 Rankings release, and our popular Game of the Week segment.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the bayou state.  Each week, we will be releasing our players of the week, updating our Power 25 Rankings, and many more pieces of content.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook

West Feliciana finished last season with a 22-15 overall record, which earned them the #13 seed in the LHSAA Non-Select D-II playoffs.  The Saints defeated Loranger in the first round, but were then upended by Eunice in what turned out to be a battle of a three-game series.  Eunice took game one by a score of 10-0, before West Feliciana took game two by a score of 4-2 in 7 innings.  Game three also went 7 innings with Eunice coming out on top by a score of 6-5.  There's a lot of optimism surrounding this year's Saints team and for good reason, as Coach Achord and company return eight starting position players from last year, as well as five pitchers.  Seniors Dylan Cedotal and Tanner Gardner will both be relied upon in the infield and on the mound with Cedotal playing third base and Gardner playing shortstop.  Fellow senior B.B. Green will once again be the team's starting catcher and junior Thomas Temple returns in centerfield.  Senior Myles Bryant is a physical left-handed hitter at 6'1" 195 lbs. and projects to start at first base, while senior Jack Louis projects to start at second base.  Senior Mason Adams is a 6'0" 180 lbs. right-handed hurler that will be relied upon as well.  Keep an eye out for freshman Mason Rogillio as well.  Rogillio was a member of our Jr. Future Games team this past summer, and showed power at the plate, especially to the pull-side.  Coach Achord has things rolling in the right direction at West Feliciana and with a plethora of returning players from last year's team, we expect the Saints to make an even deeper run in the playoffs in 2024.
