Over the last few weeks the weather in south Louisiana has been outstanding, 65 and sunny has been pretty common. But of course, once opening day hits, the weather goes south in a hurry. As teams all across Louisiana were battling the elements to start their 2015 seasons on Tuesday, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana stopped in for the #3 ranked Jesuit HS and Grace King HS matchup at Kirsch Rooney stadium.

The Blue Jays dominated the game from the get go, putting up 19 runs in the first inning on the way to a 30-0 victory and combined no-hitter. Jesuit’s lineup showed extreme depth, with a mixture of upperclassmen and talented underclassmen. Senior Myles Blunt started on the mound, and filled up the strike zone. Then handed it off to others, including 2017 pitchability left-hander Davis Martin. Below you will find reports on some players that showed well Tuesday, yet remain uncommitted.

+ 1B, Dan Edmund, 2015, Jesuit HS
An unsigned senior with a 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. Strong, compact build with near college average athleticism. Showed soft hands, feel and near college average arm strength at first base. Left-handed hitter with short, compact stroke, outstanding balance, flat bat path that creates natural leverage and backspin.

+ OF, Ben Hess, 2015, Jesuit HS

Smooth runner with tracking instincts, near college average arm strength and defensive ability in the outfield. Right-handed hitter with short, compact swing, quick hands, flat bat path, and shows the ability to hit to all fields.

+ INF, Brandon Briuglio, 2016, Jesuit HS

Soft hands with quality actions and near college average arm strength as a second baseman. Understands angles, plays with quality tempo and fundamentals. Left-handed hitter with simple, smooth stroke, sufficient bat speed, flat path, and line drive type swing that stays gap to gap.

+ OF/INF, Nick Ray, 2017, Jesuit HS
An uncommitted sophomore with a 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame. Strong, athletic build with outstanding athleticism and fast twitch actions. Smooth, advanced runner with tracking instincts and well above high school average arm strength as an outfielder. Soft hands, decent actions, and developing instincts as an infielder with college average arm strength. Right-handed hitter with raw bat path, but possess advanced bat speed and hand eye coordination.

+ LHP, Davis Martin, 2017, Jesuit HS
An uncommitted sophomore with a 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. Small, athletic build with normal athletic actions. Simple, repeatable, athletic delivery with sound mechanics and an obvious feel for pitching. Clean arm action with above high school average arm speed. Fastball sat 77-79 with occasional life and plus strike throwing ability. Showed a feel for a quality breaking ball with 1/7 shape and decent spin. Flashed an above average high school change up with deception and depth. Pitchability left-hander that was very comfortable in the strike zone, worked with outstanding rhythm and tempo, and showed three quality high school pitches.
