The last few days Prep Baseball Report Louisiana has taken a look at some standouts from the Louisiana Elite tryout this past weekend. We looked at some standouts on the mound, as well as some everyday players. The following are some additional notes from that workout:

Hunter Romero, C/1B, 2016, St. Paul’s HS
A 6-foot-1, 210-pound uncommitted catcher/first baseman from Mandeville, LA. Big body with thick lower half and clear present strength. Plays catcher currently, but most likely projects to first base. He has some stiffness in the hips, but receives and blocks well with average arm strength. Right-handed hitter with bat speed, strength at contact, hits with leverage, current pull-side power and flashes opposite field power. Developed, mature athlete that could lead the St. Paul’s offense this spring.

Stephen Sepcich, OF, 2017, Jesuit HS
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound uncommitted sophomore from Jesuit HS. Athletic, lean frame with present strength and explosiveness. Corner outfield prospect with average defensive ability, quality arm strength, and ran the 60 yard dash in 7.2 seconds. Right-handed hitter with some stiffness in upper body, rotational swing, but loads of bat speed and strength at contact. Pull-side dominant right now, but is showing development hitting to all fields. Young prospect with tools to hit that is showing promise to become complete hitter.

Jordan Loving, RHP, 2018, Riverside HS
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound freshman from Riverside HS. Strong, athletic frame with advanced strength and athleticism. Right-hander with a raw delivery and some present raw arm strength. Fastball sat 79-81 mph and he added a loose spinning, developing breaking ball with 10/4 shape that flashed decent depth. Very advanced athlete, threw for over five-thousand yards as a freshmen quarterback for Riverside HS football team.

Ian Landreneau, RHP, 2018, John Curtis HS
A 5-foot-11, 160-pound freshmen right-hander from John Curtis HS. Athletic, slender frame with advanced athletic ability. Fast arm out of a high-3/4 release with his fastball sitting 80-81 mph. He flashed a feel for a breaking ball with depth and quality spin at 65-67 mph. Also showed a changeup with arm speed and deception at 73-74 mph.

Jo Jo Gennaro, LHP, 2015, Mandeville HS
A 5-foot-9, 170-pound uncommitted left-hander from Mandeville, LA. Undersized player that showed promise early in career, but had an arm injury that has set him back. Simple, repeatable delivery with clean, quick arm out of a high-3/4 release. His fastball sat 80-82 mph with occasional life that was commanded to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has good 1/7 shape, spins well, but velocity is not ideal at 60-62 mph. Flashes a quality feel for a changeup with arm speed and late fade action. A fearless competitor that attacks hitters consistently and lives in the strike zone.

Timmy Ruffino, LHP, 2019
A 5-foot-11, 190-pound 8th grader from Mandeville, LA. Big, mature frame with advanced strength. Clean delivery with loose, fast arm out of a high-3/4 release. Fastball sat 79-81 mph with some arm side run and feel for command. Breaking ball spun well with 1/7 shape and quality depth. An extremely young prospect that is well ahead of the curve for his age and created a nice buzz at the workout.
