Mobile, AL - The Faith Academy Rams opened their Season with a 7-3 win over the Gulf Shores Dolphins. The game was played in freezing condition at UMS-Wright Preparatory School. Jaden Brown started on the mound for the Rams. Jud Keel got the start for the Dolphins.

After a scoreless top of the first, Peyton Bell hit a leadoff double and scored on a Gabe Broadus ground ball to give Faith Academy a 1-0 lead after one inning. Broadus worked the count full before hitting a line drive to deep right center field. Preston Boyington singled to lead off the third for the Rams. He later scored on a wild pitch. 

Pitcher Jaden Brown entered the fourth inning with a 2-0 lead for the Rams. Marc Stephens and Devin Polk walked to lead off the fourth. Mattox Johnson advanced the runners into scoring position. Jackson Achimon’s line drive single to right field scored Stephens and Polk, tying the game at 2-2

Faith Academy rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Colton Wood reached on an error to lead off the inning. Jay Seymour singled down the third base line. After a strikeout, Dakota Saranthus drove in Wood with an RBI single. The Rams took advantage of walks and wild pitches, along with a Gabe Broadus single to stretch the lead to 7-2.

Gatlin Montgomery took the mound for the Rams in the fifth. Devin Polk singled in Jud Keel to cut the lead to 7-3. Montgomery was able to shut the door after that. He picked up the save by allowing only one hit through the last three innings. Brown was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs in two hits for the Rams.

Faith Academy (1-0) plays Daphne (0-1) Friday at 4:00.

Gulf Shores (1-1) travels to play Murphy (2-1) at Hank Aaron Stadium at 6:00 Friday night.
