Central Louisiana Preseason ID - Quick Hits

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

On Sunday, January 23rd, 2022, we ended our Winter Schedule with the Central Louisiana Preseason ID at LSU-Alexandria.  The event began with a pro-style workout (60’s, Defense, Batting Practice) that all position players and two-way prospects participated in. Below, we continue our coverage with a look at some of our staff's impressions from the day.

-2025 RHP/OF Shelton Harville Jr. (Captain Shreve HS)

Athletic and high-waisted 6'0" 175 lbs. frame with room to continue to fill out.  The  Captain Shreve product showed up Sunday more physical than this past summer at the Jr. Future Games.  Moved well in the OF and recorded an event best 85 mph positional velocity.  Took a solid BP round, working gap to gap, with a max exit velocity of 86 mph.  On the mound, he worked 80-84 mph, with some cutting action at times, to go along with a solid CB, SL, and CH.  Harville is a Louisiana Tech commit and currently ranked #7 in our state rankings for the 2025 class.

-2022 C Bryce Guidry (Lafayette HS)
Compact and durable 5'10" 170 lbs. frame with a physical lower half.  Guidry came to our SWLA Preseason ID, on 01/15/22, and was in attendance this past Sunday as well at LSU-Alexandria.  Quality receiver and blocker behind the dish.  Worked to block every ball, was very vocal, and took command.  Turned in a solid BP round as well, working mostly up the middle and to the opposite field with a simple approach, direct path, and level extension.

-2024 INF Bryce Fontenot (Sulphur HS)
Athletic and still developing 5'8" 155 lbs. frame with plenty of room to fill out.  We've seen the Sulphur HS product at a few of our events over the past 12 months and have been able to track his progress.  The off-season work seems to be paying off for him, as he turned in personal bests of 7.27 in the 60 and 77 mph across the INF.
