Today Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is excited to release its updated class of 2017 player rankings. Louisiana’s 2017 class has created loads of excitement around the region, as it is perhaps one of the most talented and deepest the state has seen in quite some time. The list has been expanded from 25 to 40 this time around, with some movement at the top, and some brand new names.

Let’s look at a few guys that crack the top ten.

+ Daniel Cabrera, OF/LHP, John Curtis HS retains is number one ranking after an impressive spring season where he put up gaudy numbers and led his team to a state championship. The LSU recruit has also enjoyed a nice summer, as he recently made the 28-man roster for Team USA 18U.

+ Jacob Pearson, OF, West Monroe HS jumps a spot to number two, after posting an impressive performance at the Underclass Trials where he ran a 6.5 60 yard dash and posted an impressive, 100 mph exit velocity. The Mississippi State recruit has enjoyed a nice summer with Marucci Elite with a short, powerful left-handed stroke that has consistently found barrel all summer.

+ Blayne Enlow, RHP, St. Amant HS cracks the rankings for the first time and comes in at number three after a very impressive showing at the Underclass Trials in May. The 6-foot-3 uncommitted right-hander has bursted on to the scene with a quality three-pitch mix, a fastball reaching 90 mph, and a clean, projectable arm action.

+ Hayden Cantrelle, SS, Teurlings Catholic HS is another newcomer that has cracked the top ten. The switch-hitting middle infielder showed nicely at the Underclass Games, showing an advanced hit tool, athleticism, and the ability to play in the middle of the diamond at the next level. Cantrelle is joined by Teurlings Catholic teammate, Nick Webre, who also showed well at the Underclass Games. The left-handed hitting catcher and outfielder shows advanced power, outstanding bat path, and recorded a pop time of 1.87 seconds.

+ Stephen Sepcich, OF, Jesuit HS jumps a spot to number six, and looks to improve his stock as he prepares to attend the prestigious PBR Future Games powered by Under Armour at the end of July, after he has already had a successful summer playing with the Louisiana Elite Knights program.

+ Marucci Elite teammates Brock Batty, Miguel Reyes, and Ma’Khail Hilliard round out the top ten after all three showed extremely well at the Underclass Games.
