With last week’s release of the PBR 2018 Overall Rankings, which can be found HERE. Prep Baseball Report Louisiana releases its first rendition of its class of 2018 rankings.

We only stretched the list out to 20 prospects mainly due to the fact that this class is still extremely young, and has gotten minimal exposure. However there are a few sophomores that have already stood out not only on a regional and state level, but also a national level.

+ Coming in at number one is Landon Marceaux (Destrehan HS), the 6-foot right-handed pitcher made a big splash over the summer pitching well at a few big events. A clean, easy, repeatable delivery with a loose, clean arm action and a fastball that sat 86-89 mph touching 90 mph showing advanced command, Marceaux is perhaps one of the most college ready arms in the 2018 class. He shows feel and command of a curveball, slider and changeup, as well as showing an advanced understanding of how to pitch. All of this adds up to plus pitchability for Marceaux.

+ Coming in at number two is Marceaux’s high school teammate RHP Bryce Scioneaux (Destrehan HS). A 6-foot-2, 215-pound righty with a fastball that sits 84-87 mph with solid life and angle, as well as a slider that has flashed sharp, late life with tight spin.

+ Future Games participant, INF Jordin LaBruzza (Brother Martin HS) comes in at number three. The 5-foot-9 infielder shows advanced defensive ability with soft hands, quick transfer, and an understanding of angles as well as showing advanced hitting ability with loose hands, solid bat path, and bat speed that produces a mid-80s exit velocity.

+ LHP/OF Zane Zeppuhar (St. Amant HS) and OF Slade Bolden (West Monroe HS) round out the top five. Zeppuhar shows legitimate two-way ability with a low 80s fastball and solid athleticism in the outfield, added with a solid left-handed swing that has produced an 87 mph exit velocity. Bolden, a physical outfielder has shown advanced bat speed and power potential throughout the summer and has produced an exit velocity of 87 mph.
