Commitment Spotlight - 2024 Griffin Hebert

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

With the start of the 2021-2022 school year, college recruiters are returning back to campus to get their respective teams ready to compete this upcoming spring.  In addition, many college staffs are starting to make moves on recruits that impressed over the summer and into the early part of the fall.  Today, we spotlight 2024 Griffin Hebert of Sam Houston High School.  The left handed hitting middle infielder finished the 2021 high school season as a starter for the Broncos, and over the weekend, announced his commitment to the University of Louisiana.  Below, we discuss what led him to choose committing to the Ragin Cajuns, his recruitment process, and what fans can expect from the Sam Houston Broncos in 2022.

-Congratulations on committing to the University of Louisiana!  What led you to commit to the Ragin Cajuns?

What led me to being a Ragin Cajun was the coaches and the energy that they bring and how it fits my high energy style of play.  It's also a perfect fit because it's an hour and a half away from home and my step dad works near Lafayette, LA.  I know several people going to UL in the future as well and most importantly, my family will be able to come watch me play.

-All players have people that have helped them along their journey.  Is there anyone that you'd like to thank for helping you get to this point today?

I'd like to thank my dad for helping me get to where I am today.  He has coached me since I was 9 years old and I wasn't the best player coming up through tournament ball.  My dad was always honest with me on where I was at, which led me to work even harder to get where I am now.  I'd also like to thank my mom.  She has always helped me and been there for me when I've struggled with different things.  Lastly, I would like to thank all of the coaches that I have had since I was 7 years old.  Thank you for letting me play for your organization and for getting me exposed to colleges.

-You're a left-handed hitting middle infielder and played third base for Sam Houston this past year as well.  How would you describe your style of play for Ragin Cajun fans who may not know you yet?

My style of play is high energy.  I am super knowledgeable and always do whatever it takes to win the game for my team, which are my brothers.

-What can high school baseball fans expect from the Sam Houston Broncos in 2022?

The fans can expect us to play with a ton of energy and play for each other.  We will be right back where we were last year, but this year we aren't falling short like the past.  Our goal is to finish the fight!
