September 20, 2021
With the start of the 2021-2022 school year, college recruiters are returning back to campus to get their respective teams ready to compete this upcoming spring. In addition, many college staffs are starting to make moves on recruits that impressed over the summer and into the early part of the fall. Today, we spotlight 2023 Sam Ardoin of Sam Houston High School. Last week, the middle infielder announced his commitment to Coach David Pierce and the University of Texas. Ardoin became the 8th member of our 2021 Future Games team to announce his college commitment. Below, we discuss what led him to commit to Texas, his recruitment process, and what fans can expect out of Sam Houston High School in 2022.
-Congratulations on committing to the University of Texas! What led you to commit to Coach David Pierce and the Longhorns?
While visiting the University of Texas, I realized that I wanted to be a part of the winning tradition. My brother playing for Texas allowed me to have a better understanding of the program and to build a relationship with the coaching staff. Getting a degree from Texas will put me in an elite group when applying for a job one day. I love everything about the University of Texas!
-All players have people that have helped them along their journey. Is there anyone that you'd like to thank for helping you get to this point today?
Growing up, my dream was always to one day become a big leaguer. Learning from my dad has put me in the position that I am in today. I want to thank him for teaching me what it takes to be great. I want to thank all of my coaches for their time, effort, and patience. I could not have done it without them. I want to thank my family for pushing me to be the best person that I can be. Finally, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level.
-You're a right handed hitting middle infielder for Sam Houston High School. How would you describe your style of play for Longhorn fans who may not know you yet?
The Longhorns can expect to see a competitive player that will bring it everyday with a winning attitude. They will also see a player that loves his teammates and Longhorn nation! #HookEm
-What can high school baseball fans expect out of Sam Houston High School in 2022?
Fans can expect the Broncos to make another trip to the state tournament. Coach Hebert prepares us for a championship run every year and our team is ready to get to work. This year's team has guys who will compete and find a way to win. We will play the game the right way and give it our all day in and day out.
