Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Our Week 9 Edition of Diamond Notes is here, as we highlight some of the top performances, from across the state in Week 8 (04/18/22-04/24/22), as well as our Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week.  Now that the playoffs are here, we will not be accepting submissions for our Player & Pitcher of the Week.  We are fired up for what's in store for the playoffs, as we move into Round 2!

Player of the Week

Cameron Andrus / Carencro, LA / 2022

Carencro went 3-1 in the final week of the regular season, with their only loss being a 1-0 game against the top ranked Class 4A team in North Vermillion.  Andrus led the Bears offensive attack by collecting six hits in thirteen at-bats (.462 AVG), that included one double, one homerun, eleven runs batted in, and four stolen bases.  In a thrilling 14-13 win against Erath, Andrus hit a walk-off double to seal the win for the Bears.

Pitcher of the Week

Jace Duhon RHP / 3B / South Beauregard, LA / 2024

Duhon was an interesting 6'2" pitching prospect at our Southwest Louisiana Preseason ID in January, and the uncommitted right-handed pitcher has enjoyed a successful sophomore campaign for the Golden Knights.  Last week, Duhon threw a complete game no-hitter, with one walk and eight strikeouts, against Hornbeck, as South Beauregard won 10-0.  For the year, Duhon has compiled a 6-3 record with one save and has allowed only fifteen earned runs across sixty seven innings pitched, to go along with fifty three strikeouts.
