Fall Prospect Showcase: Statistical Analysis

The Fall Prospect Showcase took place on Saturday, September 26th at Live Oak HS in Denham Springs, LA. The open event hosted 30+ prospects  across all classes from across the state of Louisiana. 

We begin our instant analysis from Saturday's event with a look at some top statistical performers. We measured six separate categories and we’ll detail the leaders in each category below.

Saturday’s event saw 9 players turned in sub-7.30 times. Crawford Courville (Barbe, 2022) turned in an event best 60-yard dash, posting a time of 6.71-seconds. Reese Dean (Central Private, 2023) and Giancarlo Arencibia (Rummel, 2024) were the other two players to finish under 7.05-seconds, with times of 6.86-seconds, and 7.01-seconds, respectively.

On the mound, the Fall Prospect Showcase saw 8 players flash a max velocity of 80 mph or better. Leading the way was Zeph Arnold (Sacred Heart(VP), 2022) posting a 93 mph max velocity on Saturday. Ethan Prescott (Live Oak, 2021) and Matthew Ma (Live Oak, 2022) also had quality outings on the mound, working up to 85 mph and 84 mph respectively. 

Saturday’s event also saw 8 players post an exit velocity of 90 or better including Matthew Ma (Live Oak, 2022) who led the way with a 96 mph exit velocity on TrackMan, while taking an impressive round of batting practice. Caleb Webb (Walker, 2022) and Caleb Smith (Live Oak, 2023) were tied for second on the exit velocity leaderboard with identical exit velocities of 94 mph.

Kade Pearl (Parkview Baptist, 2022) led the way on the infield positional velocity leaderboard checking in with an event best 83 mph. Pearl was followed up by Giancarlo Arencibia (Rummel, 2024) who posted a positional velocity of 80 mph.

Reese Dean (Central Private, 2023) topped the leaderboard with an event best 89 mph outfield velocity. Crawford Courville (Barbe, 2022) and Jackson Tarver was second on the outfield velocity leaderboard at 82 mph.

Caleb Webb (Walker, 2022) also showed off his arm strength behind the dish, posting an event best 76 mph catcher velocity. While Michael Curry (Brusly, 2021) finished in the number 2 spot with a 74 mph catcher velocity. 

Webb and Curry also topped the leaderboard for top pop times with Curry posting the top time of 1.91-seconds. Webb finished just behind him with a 1.95-second pop time. Jaxon Adams (Denham Springs, 2023) also posted a sub-2.0 second pop time as he rounded out the top three with a time of 1.99-seconds.
