With the start of the 2016 prep season just around the corner, excitement is surely growing. Today Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at five arms that remain uncommitted heading into their Senior campaigns.
+ Dean Alexander, LHP, Thomas Jefferson HS(2016)
A 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed pitcher with a strong, athletic frame. Short, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, and lands square. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with command and late run. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape with fastball arm speed and late break at 68-72 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and sink action at 71-72 mph.
+ Sean Bretz, RHP, John Curtis HS(2016)
A 6-foot-6, 200-pound right-handed pitcher with a long, lean, extremely projectable frame, wide shoulders and lots of room to get stronger. Clean, in-line delivery, little to no effort with long, loose and whippy arm that creates outstanding tilt out of a high-3/4 release. Fastball can sit 85-87 with late life and flashes solid control. Shows quality feel for a changeup with late, hard fade action, fastball arm speed and command of the pitch. Breaking ball shows inconsistent 11/5 shape, occasional tight spin and depth.
+ Austin Lambertson, RHP, Fontainebleau HS(2016)
A 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed pitcher with a lean, athletic frame. Loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with average arm speed, solid balance, and regular effort. Fluid rhythm, level shoulders, falls slightly to 1B, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with heavy sink and command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with sharp break and near fastball arm speed at 71-73 mph. Flashed solid change up with near fastball arm speed and sink at 76-77 mph.
+ Connor Maginnis, RHP, Jesuit HS(2016)
A 6-foot, 183-pound right-handed pitcher with an athletic, strong frame. Loose arm action into high-3/4 release with lightning quick arm and some effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and lands square. Fastball sat 88-90 mph with heavy sink and command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape, sharp break and tight spin at 70-73 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 73-75 mph.
+ Jesse Dinnat, RHP, Alexandria HS(2016)
A 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher with a large, strong frame. Long, loose arm action with a slight stab into a high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction and lands square. Fastball sat 82-85 mph with solid angle and slight sink.
