NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Prep Baseball Report Louisiana scouting staff headed over to John Ryan Stadium on Tuesday night, as Jesuit HS hosted Brother Martin HS in the district 9-5A opener.

The Blue Jays would pick up the win on Tuesday, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 8th to walk off the Crusaders.

2020 RHP Will Helmers (Jesuit HS, LA) was dominate in his start on Tuesday, as the 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander allowed only one run in seven and one-thirds innings. Pitching 85-88 mph with his fastball, he showed command and feel to pitch throughout the outing, striking out five, while only walking one.

2020 RHP Brennan Stuprich (Brother Martin HS, LA) got the start opposite Hellmers, and was equally as impressive. He pitched 84-87 mph with his fastball, that consistently missed barrels, showing late, hard cutting action. Offensively, the Blue Jays were led by 2021 OF/C Zack Casebonne (Jesuit HS, LA) who finished the game 2-for-4, including the game-winning RBI. While Will Hellmers added a double, run scored, and a RBI in addition to his performance on the mound.

The Crusaders got multi-hit performances from their starting pitcher as well, as Brennan Stuprich would finish the contest 2-for-2, while 2020 OF Cole Stromboe (Brother Martin HS, LA) would finish 2-for-3 with a run scored. 2020 OF Blaine Starring (Brother Martin HS, LA) would also collect multiple hits on the night, as the left-handed hitter finished the contest 2-for-3.
