I-10 Border Battle: Outfield Analysis

The I-10 Border Battle took place on Monday January 16th, at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. The open event saw players from all across the state of Louisiana and Texas in attendance.

Outfield

+ Jake Chisholm, OF, South Beauregard, 2019
A 5-foot-7, 145-pound outfielder with a medium, athletic frame. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges and plays through balls well. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a crouch, smooth load, short stride, uphill path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 72 mph. Also posted a 7.33 60-yard dash.

+ Jeffrey Elkins, OF, AES, 2017
Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, currently ranked No. 18 in Louisiana’s 2017 class. Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, present strength, room to add size. Excellent athlete that posted a 6.60 60-yard dash. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Short arm action into ¾ release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 88 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick, solid lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, compact stroke, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph.

+ Damon Fountain, OF, Barbe, 2019
Currently ranked No. 8 in Louisiana’s 2019 class, No. 202 Overall. Athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame, wiry build, long levers, plenty of room to project. One of the better prospects in Louisiana’s 2019 class, improved his stock at the I-10 Border Battle. Quality athlete with long strides and fluidness when running that posted a 6.94 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and quality balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level to slightly uphill path, strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 90 mph. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and long, but clean exchanges. Long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, and plus carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 86 mph.

+ Jarrett McDonald, OF, Sterlington, 2018
A 5-foot-10, 193-pound outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick, solid lower half, and quality balance. Line-drive, gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 84 mph. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges and plays through balls well. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws and a positional velocity of 81 mph. Also posted a 7.30 60-yard dash.

+ Cameron Pradia, OF, Barbe, 2019
A 5-foot-9, 165-pound outfielder with an average, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges and plays through balls athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, quality lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, short, level path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Quality overall athlete that also posted a 7.07 60-yard dash.
