With the start of the Spring season upon us, it is time to update the class of 2016 rankings. This edition of the rankings has been expanded to include 85 prospects from across the state. There are several new faces to the rankings and a few players made significant jumps.
+ Super 60 participants, Jake Slaughter and Zachary Watson, both Louisiana State recruits retain the top two slots going into the spring season.
+ Tulane commit, Michael Kirsch, jumps to the number 3 slot after a very successful fall that saw him post an eye opening 6.51 60 yard dash at the Pre-Season All-State Games.
+ Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, RHP Haden Erbe, jumps to number 5 after an impressive showing at the Pre-Season All-State Games as well. Erbe has a strong, projectable frame with a clean arm action and a fastball up to 92 mph.
+ Ponchatula first baseman, Simon Landry, jumps to number 16 as he shows big power potential and should be one to keep an eye on this spring.
+ Louisiana-Monroe recruit, RHP Cole Trichel is the biggest climber in the rankings after a very impressive showing at the Winter Prospect Showcase. Trichel sat 85-87 mph with heavy, late, life and showed solid secondary stuff.
+ Defending state champion, Ouachita Christian HS lands the most prospects in the top 20 of the rankings with four. Slaughter (No.1), Ryan Reynolds (No.4), Aaron George (No. 12) and Trichel (No. 18).
+ Brother Martin HS lands three prospects in the top 10. Kirsch (No. 3), Blair Frederick (No. 8), and Keagan Gillies (No. 10).
