LAFAYETTE − Yesterday the Prep Baseball Report Louisiana staff headed to the campus of Teurlings Catholic high school, as the Rebels faced off against 5A power, Sulphur. Teurlings Catholic would eventually pull out a 4-1 victory over the Tors, after an extremely well-played game on both sides.

The decisive blow came in the bottom of the 5th inning from Louisiana State recruit, 2017 OF Nick Webre. Kanin Dodge led off the inning with single, then Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, 2017 SS Hayden Cantrelle singled, and Judson Judice followed Cantrelle with a walk. Webre then sent one deep and over the right-field wall for a grand slam.

Sulphur responded in the top of the 6th though as Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, 2018 SS/RHP Chance Stone singled with 1 out, then Hayden Stutes followed with a double to right field. 2018 IF Scott Jones would then send a line-drive into left field for a single bringing home Stone. LSU-Eunice recruit, Andrew Sheridan would then draw a walk to load the bases with 1 out. However, Teurlings Catholic pitcher Judson Judice would enduce a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the jam.

That would be all the scoring the game would see, as Judice would go the distance for the Rebels, allowing only 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6. 2018 LHP William Dion would also pitch well for Sulphur, taking the tough loss, as the crafty left-hander would toss a complete game himself, allowing 8 hits, while only walking 1.

2017 SS Hayden Cantrelle (Teurlings Catholic) was impressive on the day, and his draft stock continues to rise. Cantrelle would finish the day 2-for-3 with a run scored, and posted a blazing 3.7 home to first time from the right side on a drag bunt. Louisiana State recruit, 2017 OF Nick Webre (Teurlings Catholic) continues his stellar senior season, as the physical left-hander finished the day 2-for-3, making loud contact in each of his 3 at-bats, and added to his RBI total with 4 on the day.
