Prep Baseball Report Louisiana spent the weekend at numerous events throughout the state, including the national powerhouse Marucci Elite select program, as well as the Tulane showcases. The following are some notes on players across the state that impressed during their workouts.

Stephen Sepcich, OF, Jesuit HS
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound 2017 corner outfield that plays for Jesuit HS in New Orleans. Showed quality arm strength throwing 86 mph from outfield with carry and accuracy on throws, racking up a couple outfield assist in game action. Showed exceptional bat speed, strength at contact with a developing bat path. Not the best of runners, but a quality overall athlete that projects nicely to a corner outfield spot.

Keagan Gillies, RHP, Brother Martin HS
A 6-foot-8, 226-pound 2016 right-hander from New Orleans. Extremely long, lean and projectable frame with a clean, quick arm. Fastball sits 84-86 mph touching 87 with severe tilt, angle and late hard cutting action. Breaking ball spins extremely well with 12/6 shape, quality depth, deception and hard, late break. Still a fairly raw product, as he is still trying to grow into his body, but he has enormous upside with present quality stuff.

Nicholas Webre, C, Teurlings Catholic HS
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound 2017 catcher from Lafayette, LA. Strong, athletic build with present strength. Average defensive catcher that receives and throws OK. Left-handed hitter with loose, whippy barrel, rhythm and tempo, finds the barrel consistently with big power to the pull side.

Simon Landry, 1B/RHP, Ponchatula HS
A 6-foot-3, 220-pound 2016 first baseman from Ponchatula, LA. Big, strong, athletic frame with clear present strength. Right-handed hitter with strength at contact, bat speed, creates nice leverage, finds the barrel consistently and has current pull power. Average defensive first baseman with arm strength and a prototypical frame for that position.

Jacob Pearson, OF, West Monroe
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound 2017 outfielder from West Monroe, LA. Strong, compact build with fast twitch actions. Quality overall athlete that ran a 6.6 60 yard dash. Legitimate center field type defensive player with good tracking instincts, plays fast, but lacks in arm strength. Left-handed hitter with some stiffness in upper body, but has bat speed, strength at contact, flat path through zone, advanced feel for hitting and current pull power potential.
