PBR Future Games - Day 3 Review

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Day 3 of the Prep Baseball Report Future Games was another good one for the Louisiana boys, as they defeated Arkansas by a score of 6-2.  Much like Game 1 against Missouri, the offense really got things going with a big 4 run inning to gain the momentum and eventually secure the victory.  The offense continued to put together quality at-bats and yesterday's patience at the plate (drew 11 BB's) really paid off.  Defensively, the boot boys played exceptional and twice gunned out Team Arkansas players on a relay from the outfield.  Below, we take a look at a few of the standout performers from Day 3.  Be sure to follow us along today, as there will be a battle of two 2-0 teams, when the boys take on Team Texas at 2:45 PM EST on Field 11.

2024 LHP Brennan Eager (West Monroe HS):  Throwing strikes and mixing speeds was the name of the game for Eager, coming into the Future Games, and that's exactly what he did.  The West Monroe product turned in a great performance, going 3 IP giving up 0 ER.  Primarily worked off of his low 80's FB to go with a big, loopy "1-7" shaped CB.  Eager also mixed in a 62-66 mph knuckleball.

2024 3B John Pearson (West Monroe HS):  Pearson was on time in Game 1 vs. Missouri and against Arkansas, he continued to be right on the barrel.  Finished the game 2-2 with a 2B off the LF wall.  However, what was probably most impressive, was his instinctive baserunning on the double, where he immediately saw that the throw in from the OF was going to be off line and Pearson proceeded to take 3B with zero hesitation.  For his efforts, he was named the Dick's Sporting Goods Player of the Game.

2023 C Zach Schoenborn (Parkway HS): Schoenborn put some nice swings on balls on Day 2 and the found barrel a couple of more times on Friday against Arkansas.  The Parkway HS product finished the day 1-3 with a 1B.  One of his outs was a line drive that was scorched right at the RF.  The physical backstop also received and blocked well behind the dish, which is only helping his stock with college recruiters.

2023 3B Reid Snider (St. Louis HS): There have been a lot of Louisiana guys who have been on time so far and Snider is one you can put at the top of the list.  He collected a double against Missouri in Game 1 and went 2-2 with another double on Friday against Missouri.  The physical corner IF from St. Louis HS has certainly caught the attention of several schools after three days.

2023 RHP Tate Hess (Singer HS):  With a physical 6'2" 220 lbs. frame; Hess made his presence known on Friday on the mound.  Fastball command is the first thing that stood out about Hess's outing, as he was able to locate both in and away to hitters at 85-87 mph, and his misses were down in the zone.  Mixed in two different breaking balls, both look to be improved as well.  He worked quick, threw strikes and when he gave up a hit, he got the ball and got right back in there and there's something to be said for that and something that college recruiters took notice of.
