Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Week 5 of the Louisiana High School Baseball Season is complete.  Familiar faces continued to shine and newcomers also began to make a name for themselves.  Below, we highlight our Mizuno Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week from week five of the season (03/21/22-03/27/22).

We will follow up tomorrow with our 5th week edition of "Diamond Notes", where we take a look at some of the other top performances from around the state. Please note, that all of the below performances are submitted by high school coaches.  To submit your player(s) for next week's edition of Diamond Notes, please email Alex Armand ([email protected]) with the player's name, class, position, and any relevant statistics from the week.  We are fired up for what's in store in Week 5 and the rest of the season!

Player of the Week

-2022 Andrew Glass (Sam Houston H.S.)

A Tulane University signee; Glass has been a staple in the middle of Sam Houston's order for the past couple of years, and delivered a big week for the Broncos.  Glass hit .333 for the week with two home runs, one double, four runs scored, eight runs batted in, and four stolen bases.  After losing to rival Barbe High School, on Wednesday, Glass came through big for the Broncos on Thursday in their 19-1 win against the Bucs, as he hit two home runs, with one being a grand slam.

Pitcher of the Week

-2022 Jimmie Johnson (Central BR H.S.)

Johnson has been the go-to guy for Central BR HS, since his sophomore year and is having a great senior year up to this point.  Against a talented Glenbrook HS lineup, the Southeastern Louisiana signee tossed a complete game, two hitter against the Apaches with one walk and twelve strikeouts.
